Summary

Our client Langtree Café is seeking to add a Cook to its Mildura café, bar and restaurant team. Located overlooking Langtree Avenue and Eighth Street, the venue offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with a varied menu, including Mediterranean-inspired dishes, stone-based pizzas, pides, burgers, wraps, fresh sandwiches and quality Campos coffee in a busy hospitality setting.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare, cook and present Mediterranean dishes using traditional recipes and quality ingredients.
  • Prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner items across the café, bar and restaurant menu.
  • Regulate ovens, grills, fryers and other cooking equipment during food preparation.
  • Monitor cooking times and temperatures to maintain consistent meal quality.
  • Season, portion, plate and garnish meals according to restaurant presentation standards.
  • Check foodstuffs, ingredients and deliveries to confirm freshness and required quality.
  • Receive, label, rotate and store stock in accordance with food safety procedures.
  • Store perishable food and prepared items in suitable temperature-controlled facilities.
  • Prepare food to meet customer requests and special dietary requirements.
  • Assist with menu planning, recipe adjustments and estimating food requirements.
  • Assist with supplier ordering, food provisions, stock control and inventory management.
  • Maintain clean, hygienic and safe kitchen work areas during daily service.
  • Comply with HACCP, food hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Support chefs and kitchen staff during busy breakfast, lunch and dinner periods.
  • Assist with training junior kitchen staff and apprentices in food preparation techniques.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

  • Minimum Certificate III with two years of on-the-job training, or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, is required.
  • At least one year of full-time Cook experience within the last five years is required.
  • Practical knowledge of Mediterranean cuisine, traditional recipes and relevant cooking techniques is essential.
  • Experience preparing, cooking, seasoning, portioning and presenting meals in a commercial kitchen is required.
  • Ability to follow food hygiene, HACCP, safety and temperature-control procedures in daily kitchen operations is required.
  • Assist with ordering food supplies, receiving deliveries and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
  • Ability to prepare food for special dietary requirements and maintain consistent restaurant standards is required.
  • Experience working under pressure in a busy café, restaurant or similar hospitality environment is required.
