Essential to meet the Career Medical Officer role requirements is:
- Full unconditional General Registration with AHPRA
- Australian Emergency Medicine experience at CMO level
- Unlimited and unconditional permanent working rights in Australia
In this role, you’ll be part of a supportive and close-knit Emergency Department where your clinical skills directly contribute to the wellbeing of the Lake Macquarie community. You’ll work alongside a diverse team of medical professionals including Staff Specialists, CMOs, SRMOs, Junior doctors, nurses, and allied health staff who are united by a shared commitment to delivering high-quality emergency care.
Why Belmont Hospital?
Imagine finishing work and being just minutes from pristine beaches, waterfront walking trails, world-class fishing spots, and endless opportunities for boating, paddleboarding, cycling, and outdoor recreation. Belmont's relaxed coastal atmosphere makes it easy to recharge and achieve a genuine work-life balance.
Located on the doorstep of beautiful Lake Macquarie, Belmont Hospital offers the opportunity to build a rewarding career while enjoying one of Australia's most enviable coastal lifestyles. Whether you're looking to escape the daily grind of a major city, spend more time outdoors, or find a welcoming community to call home, Belmont delivers the perfect balance of professional satisfaction and personal wellbeing.
The surrounding Lake Macquarie region is renowned for its natural beauty, family-friendly communities, excellent schools, and growing café and dining scene. Housing is often more affordable and accessible than in Sydney, allowing you to enjoy a higher quality of life and more time doing what you love.
For those who enjoy the best of both worlds, Newcastle's thriving city centre is only a short drive away, offering vibrant restaurants, bars, cultural events, live music, sporting fixtures, and a modern health and education hub. Weekends can be spent exploring the Hunter Valley's internationally acclaimed wineries, discovering nearby national parks, or taking scenic coastal road trips with family and friends.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver direct emergency care and coordinate clinical management in collaboration with Emergency Physicians and Admitting Medical Officers.
- Lead and support junior doctors and medical students, fostering a culture of learning and mentorship.
- Participate in night shifts and after-hours rosters, ensuring 24/7 care for patients.
- Coordinate resuscitation efforts for critically ill adults and children, with support from senior clinicians and retrieval services.
- Contribute to a multidisciplinary team environment that values education, research, and work/life balance.
What We’re Looking For:
- Full General Registration with AHPRA
- Minimum three years’ recent experience in Emergency Medicine
- Ability to take on in-charge responsibilities in an urban district ED
- Unrestricted working rights in Australia
At Belmont Hospital, you’re not just joining a workplace, you’re becoming part of a community. If you’re ready to make a difference in a role that values your expertise and supports your growth, we’d love to hear from you.
