The role
The Senior Natural Resource Management Officer plays a key role in delivering government priorities for Crown Lands by providing expert property management advice, conducting environmental assessments, and coordinating land management and hazard‑reduction activities.
The role supports informed decision‑making by ensuring clients understand departmental objectives, maintaining accurate land information, and managing a range of specialist administrative and project tasks.
Success in this position requires strong judgement, the ability to balance competing priorities, and confidence working both in the field and in a high‑volume advisory environment. The role demands the capacity to interpret complex environmental and planning legislation, deliver timely and well‑reasoned recommendations, and respond effectively to diverse land management issues
Key elements of the role include:
- Providing appropriately balanced and timely advice, recommendations, and briefings on environmental, planning, hazard, compliance and land management issues
- Interpreting and applying a broad range of environmental and planning legislation, policies, and procedures
- Undertaking land administration functions relating to Crown tenures, roads, and reserves, incorporating environmental assessment and review of proposals
- Organising hazard reduction activities to mitigate the public liability risk
- Assisting in maintaining the integrity of land information data

What you will bring to the role

Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in an environmental science, natural resource, planning or other relevant field and/or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
- Current drivers’ licence and willingness to travel
