Job Description


Oaks Cairns Hotel
are looking for an enthusiastic and service-driven Barista / Food & Beverage Attendant to join our team on a casual basis.

If you are passionate about hospitality, enjoy creating memorable guest experiences, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we'd love to hear from you. This role combines barista duties with food and beverage service responsibilities across breakfast, lunch and dinner operations.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparing and serving high-quality coffee, tea, specialty beverages and other drinks.
  • Providing friendly, professional and efficient service to all guests.
  • Taking food and beverage orders accurately while accommodating guest preferences.
  • Serving food and beverages in a timely and professional manner.
  • Providing menu recommendations and confidently answering guest enquiries.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the restaurant and service areas.
  • Operating coffee machines and other food and beverage equipment safely and correctly.
  • Following all health, hygiene, food safety and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service by anticipating guest needs and exceeding expectations.

Shift Details (subject to change):

  • Rotating roster across Monday to Sunday
  • Must be available to work weekends
  • RSA required.

Hourly Rates (excluding superannuation):

Monday - Friday: $31.19 per hour
Saturday: $37.43 per hour
Sunday: $43.66 per hour


Qualifications


To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Previous experience in a barista, café, restaurant or food and beverage role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and coffee equipment operation.
  • A current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate (or the ability to obtain one).
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Professional presentation and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills and willingness to support colleagues.
  • Reliability and flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
