Full job description

Location: Sydney or Melbourne

HeadBox is on the lookout for a high-performing, ambitious Business Development Manager to join our rapidly expanding team. We’re Australia’s fastest-growing event tech and services brand, on a mission to reinvent the global events industry through brilliant technology and human-led event solutions.

A Bit About HeadBox

At HeadBox, our purpose is simple: We connect people and spaces to make brilliant things happen. Our business was born out of frustration with the outdated, slow, and inefficient corporate event booking process. Since our inception, we’ve spent our time becoming obsessed with our customers' problems, building a "human-kind event-tech" ecosystem that makes event and venue management simple, secure and transparent, whether you want to hire a space or host an event.

HeadBox Australia launched in 2020 led by Ali Lord, ex-Head of Events at Dentsu Aegis UK. In her previous role, Ali was one of the early adopters of the HeadBox Business technology and experienced first-hand the benefits and efficiencies it provides organisations. Ali knew this was a product she had to bring back to Australia.

Today, HeadBox is taking the region by storm with APAC expansion plans in the works. We are scaling fast, and we are looking for a hungry, self-starting sales professional to help us deliver our next chapter of growth.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Business Partnerships, you will join our dynamic commercial team and can be based out of either our Sydney or Melbourne office. You will own a 360-degree sales cycle focused entirely on driving new business and acquiring new corporate clients with mid-to-enterprise size organisations.

This is not an account management role; this is a pure growth position for a driven, self-motivated individual with a relentless drive for new business. You will be responsible for introducing corporate clients to the HeadBox ecosystem - selling both our innovative Event Tech platform & corporate event services packages as well as our bespoke, standalone end-to-end Event Management Services.

You will have the autonomy to build your pipeline, drive outbound outreach, network at the highest levels, and close deals that directly impact HeadBox’s revenue and global growth footprint.

Responsibilities

  • New Business Acquisition (360 Sales): Identify, target, and pitch to mid-market and enterprise corporate clients across Australia to drive new logo acquisition.
  • Dual-Stream Selling: Confidently pitch and sell our core HeadBox for Business client services alongside our premium, standalone Event Management Services, based on client needs.
  • Outreach & Pipeline Management: Lead your own outbound prospecting initiatives (cold outreach, social selling, networking) while managing a balanced, accurate, and predictable sales pipeline.
  • Brand Advocacy & Networking: Act as the face of HeadBox in the corporate market - building deep industry relationships, attending networking events, and driving brand awareness.
  • Deal Closing & Negotiations: Build compelling commercial proposals and pitch decks, confidently handle objections, and negotiate high-value corporate contracts to closure.
  • Target Delivery: Hit and exceed monthly and quarterly revenue targets, providing accurate forecasting to senior leadership.

Requirements

  • High-Energy & Growth-Focused: You are a self-starter, highly driven, and ambitious. You thrive in an autonomous, fast-paced startup environment and love the thrill of winning new business.
  • Proven Sales Track Record: 5+ years of B2B sales experience (ideally within Event Tech, Event Management, SaaS, Media, or Professional Services) with a demonstrable history of hitting revenue targets.
  • Exceptional Communication: Natural ability to build rapport quickly, pitch to C-suite and senior corporate stakeholders, and handle complex commercial negotiations.
  • Strong Commercial Acumen: Ability to spot corporate opportunities, understand client pain points, and effectively articulate the ROI of both tech platforms and agency-style event services.
  • Willingness to learn: There is a lot to learn about the industry and our technology, and most importantly, the intricacies of the sales process so a desire to learn is essential for the role.
  • Collaborative Spirit & Values: You embody the HeadBox values of brilliance, integrity, empathy, and curiosity. You are adaptable, resilient, and great to work with.

Package and Perks

  • Competitive base salary with an uncapped commission & bonus scheme (rewarding high performance)
  • 4 weeks annual leave per year based on your Ordinary hours of work
  • Flexi-hours (standard office hours are 8.30am - 5pm, with an early finish of 4.30pm on Fridays)
  • Volunteering days to contribute to the HeadBox Social Mission
  • Regular training sessions with Senior Management or external providers
  • Company MacBook
  • A vibrant and supportive tech-startup culture with regular team events

HeadBox is 100% committed to building a diverse and representative team. Whatever your race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability - we would love to hear from you.
