Wait Staff – Japanese Fine Dining (Omakase Service)

Celebrating our 30th anniversary, Azuma is one of Sydney's most respected Japanese dining destinations. Family-owned and operated, we are renowned for authentic Japanese cuisine, an extensive sake and wine program, exceptional hospitality, and a refined dining experience enhanced by a curated collection of Japanese artworks.

Located in the heart of Sydney CBD, Azuma offers guests both traditional dining and an intimate omakase experience, where personalised service, professionalism, and attention to detail are paramount.

About the Role:

We are looking for motivated hospitality professionals who are eager to develop their fine dining and Japanese service skills.

Working alongside our omakase chefs, you will play an important role in delivering a seamless dining experience. The position focuses on attentive guest service, beverage service, table preparation, and supporting communication between chefs, and the kitchen team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys fine dining service and takes pride in creating a welcoming and memorable experience for guests.

Responsibilities

  • Provide warm and professional welcome and farewell service
  • Serve sake, wine, cocktails, tea, coffee, and other beverages
  • Prepare and maintain tables, cutlery, glassware, and service areas
  • supporting communication between chefs and the kitchen team
  • Support omakase chefs throughout service
  • Monitor guest needs and provide attentive service throughout the dining experience
  • Process payments accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of service areas

About You

  • 1–3 years hospitality experience preferred (fine dining advantageous)
  • Strong interest in hospitality and guest service
  • Team-focused and willing to learn
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced service environment
  • Attention to detail and positive attitude
  • Availability Tuesday–Saturday evenings
  • Basic beverage knowledge an advantage (wine/sake)
  • Japanese language is an advantage but not essential
