ABOUT FRASER'S MEDICAL
Fraser's Medical is the leading preparation provider in Australia, offering comprehensive resources and expert guidance for students aiming to excel in premedical entrance examinations and interviews for over 15 years. With a strong focus on strategic thinking, critical reasoning, and personalised feedback, Fraser's programs are designed to build deep understanding and confidence across premedical exams and interviews.
OVERVIEW OF ROLE: UCAT SCHOOLS IN-PERSON GROUP CLASS TUTOR — SYDNEY, BRISBANE & CANBERRA
Fraser's Medical is seeking current medical students and experienced UCAT tutors to deliver in-person UCAT preparation classes directly to students at partner schools across Sydney, Brisbane, and Canberra. In this role, you will facilitate structured group classes covering all four UCAT subtests — Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning, and Situational Judgement — helping Year 11 and Year 12 students build the skills, strategies, and confidence they need to perform at their best on exam day.
This is a dynamic, student-facing role that combines strong UCAT subject matter expertise with engaging classroom delivery. You will work closely with Fraser's academic team to ensure each class session is well-prepared, high quality, and aligned with the Fraser's UCAT curriculum.
Commitment: Casual, term-based — classes are scheduled during school terms at Fraser's partner school locations. Hours will vary depending on school demand and program scheduling.
LOCATIONS
Positions are available at partner school locations across the following cities. Candidates should indicate their preferred location(s) upon application:
- Sydney, NSW
- Brisbane, QLD
- Canberra, ACT
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver in-person UCAT preparation classes to groups of Year 11 and Year 12 students at Fraser's partner school locations
- Teach all four UCAT subtests — Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning, and Situational Judgement — using Fraser's curriculum, slide decks, and question bank resources
- Facilitate timed practice and question walkthroughs in class, providing clear and structured feedback on student responses
- Maintain a positive, encouraging, and high-energy classroom environment that motivates students to engage actively with the material
- Adapt explanations and pacing to the needs of the class while covering all required content within the allocated session time
- Communicate professionally with school staff and faculty contacts where required
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This role is open exclusively to current medical students and experienced UCAT tutors with a medical background. We are not accepting applications from candidates outside of the medical student or medical professional community — a first-hand understanding of the UCAT admissions process and the medical school pathway is essential to delivering the quality of teaching Fraser's students expect.
We are specifically seeking:
- Current medical students (any year) at an Australian medical school who have sat the UCAT and performed highly — your lived experience of the exam and the admissions process is the foundation of effective UCAT teaching
- Experienced UCAT tutors who are current or former medical students with a demonstrated track record of delivering high-quality UCAT preparation — prior tutoring experience with Fraser's or a comparable provider is highly regarded
Applications from candidates who are not current medical students or do not have a medical background will not be considered.
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate must:
- Be a current medical student at an Australian medical school, or a former medical student with recent UCAT tutoring experience
- Have sat the UCAT and performed highly — a strong personal UCAT score is a baseline requirement for this role; candidates who have not sat the UCAT will not be considered
- Hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) for the relevant state — this is a mandatory requirement for all tutors delivering classes at school sites; candidates who do not yet hold a WWCC are welcome to apply but must obtain one before commencing
- Have consistent availability during school terms in the relevant city — in-person school class delivery requires reliable week-on-week availability
- Have access to reliable transport to travel to partner school locations within the city
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Current medical student or former medical student with recent UCAT tutoring experience — this is a mandatory criterion; applications from non-medical candidates will not be progressed
- Strong personal UCAT performance across all five subtests — particularly across the more demanding subtests of Decision Making and Verbal Reasoning
- Demonstrates exceptional communication and presentation skills — the ability to explain time-pressured reasoning strategies clearly and engagingly to a classroom of students is the most critical skill for this role
- Demonstrates confidence and energy in a classroom setting — in-person school delivery requires the ability to hold a room, manage group dynamics, and maintain student engagement across a full session
Job Type: Contractor
Benefits:
- Work with motivated, high-achieving students in a structured and supportive academic environment
- Flexible casual engagement — work during school terms with scheduling that fits around your medical studies or other commitments
- Employee mentoring program
- Be part of Australia's leading premedical preparation provider
Job Type: Contract
Pay: From $40.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Employee mentoring program
Application Question(s):
