About the Role

Access Life Care is seeking compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our growing team in Canberra. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with one of the ACT’s trusted registered NDIS providers, committed to delivering person-centred, high-quality support to individuals living with disability.

You will work alongside participants in their homes, in our Supported Independent Living (SIL) facilities, and out in the community — helping them to live independently, pursue their goals, and engage meaningfully in everyday life.

This role operates across a rotating roster, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends, to meet the 24/7 support needs of our participants.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary of $80,000 – $85,000 per annum plus superannuation
  • Permanent, full-time employment with a growing and stable NDIS provider
  • Ongoing professional development, training, and upskilling opportunities
  • Supportive, culturally sensitive and inclusive team environment
  • Meaningful work that genuinely improves participants’ quality of life
  • 24/7 on-call management support for all staff
  • Clear career progression pathways within the organisation

Responsibilities

  • Supporting participants with daily activities including mobility assistance, personal care, medication management, housekeeping tasks, and meal preparation
  • Engaging with participants and their families to discuss, negotiate and agree on the nature and scope of care and support to be delivered
  • Providing emotional support and assisting participants in managing challenges such as low mood, confusion, and grief
  • Identifying and facilitating community-based social, recreational, and cultural activities appropriate to each participant’s interests and NDIS plan goals
  • Helping participants understand and access the disability support services available to them under the NDIS
  • Supporting participants in pursuing training and employment goals as part of their individual support plan
  • Recognising, managing, and responding to risks and emergency situations within a home care environment
  • Maintaining accurate and timely records including daily progress notes, incident reports, and care plan documentation

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), Community Services, or a related field.
  • Candidates must demonstrate at least one to two years of practical experience in a disability support role or a related field within the health, aged care, or community services sector
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
  • Valid Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration in the ACT
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent)
  • Current Australian driver’s licence and access to a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Genuine empathy, patience, and a commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of people with disability

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with the NDIS framework, Practice Standards, and the NDIS Code of Conduct
  • Experience with medication administration and personal care procedures
  • Proficiency in delivering services to culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities
  • Experience supporting participants with psychosocial disability, acquired brain injury (ABI), or complex/high-intensity support needs.
