Job Description
Join AECOM's Resources and Industrial team and gain hands-on experience working on a diverse range of industrial, mining, water and local government projects. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you'll work alongside experienced engineers in a collaborative consulting environment, developing practical skills while contributing to projects from concept design through to delivery.
At AECOM, our mechanical team partners with clients across a broad range of sectors including industrial process, water, Defence, fuels, renewables and manufacturing, giving you exposure to a variety of exciting engineering challenges.
How you'll make a difference:
- Support mechanical engineering design and the preparation of technical documentation for a range of infrastructure and industrial projects.
- Assist with projects involving new-build, upgrade and refurbishment of process, water, wastewater and industrial infrastructure.
- Contribute to engineering calculations, drawings, reports and other project deliverables under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop safe, practical and sustainable engineering solutions.
- Participate in site visits, inspections and project meetings to gain practical industry experience.
- Support project coordination activities, including document management and tracking project deliverables, while building your understanding of project delivery.
- Develop your technical and professional skills through mentoring, on-the-job learning and exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects.

Qualifications
- Summer Intern attributes: Interns who are curious and excited to apply their studies in a professional environment. You'll bring strong communication and teamwork skills, a positive and proactive attitude, adaptability, and a commitment to professionalism and integrity.
- Bachelor’s Degree: You must be in your penultimate year of a Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering with a strong interest in mining, fuel and industrial decarbonisation.
- Commencement: Able to work full time hours from 16 November 2026 – 19 February 2027.
- Working Rights: You must have full working rights to work in Australia or New Zealand before applying. We do accept candidates with student and graduate visas.
