We manage our clients’ entire project lifecycle, from early studies through to execution, operations and optimisation. At Hatch, you will be part of a global team focused on delivering practical, high-quality solutions to complex engineering challenges across mining and energy infrastructure projects. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team, supporting the delivery of mechanical design and engineering across multidiscipline projects. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can contribute technically, work across teams and take accountability for delivering scope to schedule and standard.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Engineering Manager/Lead Mechanical Engineer in delivering project scope, schedule and cost requirements
  • Perform engineering calculations for hydraulic systems, conveying systems and mechanical equipment sizing
  • Prepare technical specifications and design criteria aligned with statutory, industry and client requirements
  • Manage mechanical packages across the full lifecycle, including documentation, technical bid evaluations and vendor management
  • Contribute to 3D models and 2D mechanical drawings
  • Participate in and contribute to design reviews
  • Coordinate mechanical engineering activities across multidisciplinary project teams
  • Provide guidance and oversight to junior engineers as required


About You

You hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSc/BEng) and bring 5–10 years’ experience working across multidiscipline engineering projects, ideally within mining or infrastructure environments. You have a strong working knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes and regulations, and are confident delivering technical work independently while also supporting and guiding junior team members. You are an effective communicator who can collaborate across disciplines and contribute to coordinated project outcomes. Professional Engineer registration is preferred. You bring a practical, can-do approach, are adaptable in dynamic project environments and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.
