Full job description

Electrical Transmission Lines Design Engineer

At Aurecon, we are optimistic about the future. We are thinkers, solvers, and collaborators who work with our clients to deliver the infrastructure and assets that strengthen communities and create a sustainable future.

What you’ll do

As an Electrical Transmission Lines Design Engineer in our Energy team based in Brisbane, you'll contribute to some of the country's most significant energy infrastructure projects.

Working alongside a collaborative team of transmission, substation, renewable energy and power systems specialists, you'll help deliver the networks that connect renewable generation, strengthen grid reliability, and support Australia's transition to a low-carbon future.

This is an opportunity to work on major transmission line projects up to 500kV, supporting nationally significant investments across the AEMO Integrated System Plan (ISP), Renewable Energy Zones (REZ), battery storage, generation and grid connection projects. You will:

  • Contribute to the design and delivery of transmission line projects from concept through to detailed design and construction support.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, sustainable, and innovative solutions.

  • Partner with clients, contractors and key stakeholders to navigate technical challenges and achieve project outcomes.

  • Apply transmission line modelling and engineering expertise to deliver high-quality, fit-for-purpose designs.

  • Support projects that enhance grid resilience, connect renewable energy and enable Australia's evolving energy landscape.

  • Share knowledge, contribute new ideas and help foster technical excellence across the team.

What you’ll bring

  • Relevant qualifications in Electrical Engineering.

  • 5+ years' experience in transmission lines, utilities, consulting, or power infrastructure environments.

  • Experience using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE and/or PLS-TOWER.

  • An interest in developing your professional registration, including CPEng and/or RPEQ.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues.

  • A collaborative approach and a genuine curiosity to solve complex engineering challenges.

  • Willingness to undertake occasional site visits and travel as projects require.
