About the role
This position is responsible for developing and implementing effective human-centred design (HCD) initiatives, including building HCD capability and maturity and embedding innovative, experimental and customer-centric ways of working across the course development lifecycle. The role leads the application of HCD methodologies, including user research, co-design, prototyping, testing and piloting, to inform course development services and enhance the student experience across all stages of the learner journey. It works closely with cross-functional project teams, subject matter experts and stakeholders to drive collaboration, facilitate co-design activities and ensure customer insights are translated into practical and scalable solutions.
The position is also accountable for communicating the value and impact of HCD through clear reporting, presentations and evidence-based recommendations that support informed decision-making. A key focus of the role is building organisational capability by coaching and supporting teams to adopt human-centred practices, fostering a culture of experimentation, continuous improvement and customer-focused innovation. Through advocacy, influence and stakeholder engagement, the role champions user-driven decision-making and demonstrates the measurable impact of HCD in improving service delivery, course quality and learner outcomes, while ensuring all work aligns with TAFE NSW values, policies and a commitment to placing the customer at the centre of all decisions.
About you
- Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience
- Demonstrated experience in successfully leading or supporting projects involving the application of human-centred design (HCD) principles
- Demonstrated experience in supporting diverse stakeholders to learn and apply human-centred design principles and/or in communicating the benefits of HCD to organisational decision makers
- A valid Working with Children Check (required prior to commencement).
