Your New Team
The team provides strategic legal advice and drafting services across a diverse range of matters, including major infrastructure projects, land dealings, planning and development matters, acquisitions and compensation, Crown land, cultural heritage, environmental matters and complex commercial arrangements involving government.
Your New Role
This newly created Assistant Crown Solicitor position reflects Crown Law's continued investment in leadership capability and legal service delivery across its practice groups.
Reporting to the Deputy Crown Solicitor, you will provide strategic leadership to a highly regarded team of lawyers while overseeing the delivery of complex legal services, developing team capability and maintaining strong relationships with government clients and stakeholders.
Combining technical expertise with people leadership, you will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the practice while contributing to the broader leadership of Crown Law.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading, mentoring and developing a team of lawyers
Providing strategic advice across complex property, planning and infrastructure matters
Advising on major government projects, land transactions and development initiatives
Building and maintaining trusted relationships with government clients and stakeholders
Supporting practice management, governance and service delivery outcomes
Fostering a collaborative, accountable and high-performing team culture
Contributing to capability development and continuous improvement initiatives across the practice
Overseeing the delivery of high-quality legal services while managing risk and professional standards
This is a genuine opportunity to influence both legal outcomes and team performance while contributing to the strategic leadership of Crown Law.
Culture & Benefits
Crown Law offers an inclusive, balanced workplace with achievable billable targets and genuine flexibility, giving senior lawyers space to lead without private practice pressure. Eligible for a further 15% allowance that recognises senior expertise, other benefits include competitive superannuation, parental leave and wellbeing initiatives.
Your Skills Profile
You will be an accomplished property, planning or infrastructure lawyer with strong leadership capability, commercial judgement and a commitment to delivering outstanding client service.
While experience across all aspects of property, planning and infrastructure law is not essential, you will contribute expertise from one or more relevant areas and the ability to apply that knowledge across complex government matters.
You will bring:
Approximately 10+ years' post-admission experience in property, planning, infrastructure or a related practice area
Strong technical expertise in complex property transactions, development, infrastructure, planning or government projects
Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring or developing legal practitioners
Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
The ability to provide strategic advice on complex, sensitive or high-profile matters
Strong drafting, negotiation and problem-solving capability
Sound commercial judgement and decision-making skills
A collaborative and authentic leadership style
This opportunity will appeal to a senior practitioner seeking a leadership role that combines strategic legal work, meaningful public sector impact and involvement in projects that help shape Queensland's future.
