Our Surface Water Science team is currently seeking to appoint an Assistant Water Scientist to help support our work that contributes to improved understanding of priority water issues.
As the Assistant Water Scientist you will investigate and analyse water quality, fluvial geomorphology, ecology and hydrology impacts in NSW rivers. You will be reviewing research findings, assisting in the development and/or update of information and publication of materials, assisting in monitoring and evaluation activities, conducting impact assessments, and providing administrative, technical and coordination support, all of which to inform water sharing and management in NSW rivers. The role will also require collaboration with other Water staff, other research and educational organisations, relevant government agencies, key community groups and the wider industry.
About You
To be successful in the role, you will have knowledge and experience in undertaking water science research activities in rivers. You will have a genuine interest in improving water quality, and the health of water dependent ecosystems, while relating the science to water management decision-making.
You will have experience in project management, prioritising tasks, safe fieldwork, and undertaking accurate analysis of large and diverse data sets within tight timeframes. You will also possess a sound understanding of technology, and spatial and/or data management skills will be highly regarded.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in hydrological or aquatic science, appropriate applied science, or other relevant discipline
- Valid driver’s licence and the ability and willingness to travel
