Full job description
Australia's Energy, Utilities & Resources sector is undergoing significant transformation. The convergence of the energy transition, decarbonisation, regulatory reform, evolving commodity cycles and shifting competitive dynamics is forcing miners, energy producers and utilities to fundamentally rethink how they create value. Strategy& is at the centre of that conversation — and we're looking for a Manager to play a key role in it.
Strategy& is PwC's global strategy consulting business. In Australia, we define enterprise strategy, design operating models and deliver transformation for the institutions shaping this market. Our work spans from boardroom agenda-setting through to execution — and our clients expect us to bridge the two. That combination of strategic rigour and delivery depth, backed by PwC's broader capabilities, is what sets us apart.
This role places you at the heart of complex, high-stakes engagements. You will develop and test hypotheses, drive workstreams forward and shape recommendations that executives act on. But this isn't just about analytical horsepower. You'll operate in lean, dynamic teams that shift with each engagement — meaning you need to step up, collaborate across levels and build trust fast. You will also support business development and thought leadership efforts, contributing to our point of view on the issues that matter most to the sector.
We're looking for someone who brings genuine Energy, Utilities & Resources knowledge — whether you've built that inside a mining company, energy producer, utility, in a strategy firm or within PwC's own network. What matters is that you understand how these organisations operate, the regulatory and policy landscape they navigate, and what's driving their strategic agenda. Combine that with a hypothesis-driven approach, commercial awareness and the ability to thrive in diverse teams, and you'll do well here.
If you want to work on strategic questions and problems that matter, with a team that values intellectual honesty, action and impact — this is the role.
Why PwC?
At PwC Australia, your skills meet purpose. We tackle big challenges across industries like finance, technology, energy, and health — giving you the chance to make a real impact. Here, your growth is our priority. You'll work with leading teams, explore new technologies, and unlock your full potential.
Join a global community of more than 370,000 people who value bold ideas, collaboration, and lasting change. Together, we're building trust and shaping the future.
What you'll do:
- Drive the development of strategic plans that address clients' most pressing challenges across the EUR landscape, from portfolio optimisation and capital allocation through to market entry and operational improvement.
- Lead research and analysis to surface market trends, competitive dynamics and sector-specific insights that inform client decision-making.
- Facilitate workshops, contribute to presentations and build strong working relationships with client stakeholders, translating complex findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
- ownership of deliverables, ensuring reports, presentations and strategic frameworks are sharp, well-structured and effectively communicate our point of view.
- Support business development and thought leadership activities, helping to shape our perspective on the strategic issues affecting the Energy, Utilities & Resources sector.
What we're looking for:
- Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to extract meaningful insights from complex data sets and translate them into clear strategic recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the confidence to engage and present to senior stakeholders.
- Sharp problem-solving instincts, with the ability to develop innovative, practical solutions to complex strategic challenges.
- A collaborative mindset, with demonstrated ability to work effectively within lean, dynamic teams and deliver under pressure.
- A genuine understanding of, or strong interest in, the Energy, Utilities & Resources or mining sector, including the commercial, regulatory and operational dynamics that shape strategic decision-making. Industry specialisation is highly favoured.
Don't meet every requirement? We encourage you to apply. We value all forms of experience that may be transferrable and relevant.
What you’ll gain:
-
The opportunity to work with leading organisations and cutting-edge technology that challenge and expand your expertise.
-
Work within an inclusive environment committed to Inclusion and Diversity and First Nations Prosperity, ensuring diverse perspectives are at the forefront of our work.
-
Flexibility means trusting you to choose when, where, and how you work balancing what’s best for you, your team, and your clients to grow and thrive together.
-
Clear paths for career progression supported by continuous learning and leadership development.
-
Generous leave entitlements to support your work-life balance - including floating public holidays, birthday leave and ability to purchase additional leave on top of your four weeks.
-
A world-class parental leave policy offering up to 26 weeks of leave for caregivers, supporting your family and personal life.
We know that perks are as important as your financial rewards. Explore all the benefits that PwC has to offer here.
