Full job description

Community Home Australia is opening the second floor of our new supported living community, Kora House in Westmead, directly opposite Westmead Hospital. Train, bus and light rail at the door.

THIS ROLE REQUIRES THE APPLICANT TO HOLD THE UNIT OF COMPETENCY HLTHSP007 - ADMINISTER & MONITOR MEDICATIONS. This qualification is the minimum requirement to administer medications in Australia and is a Certificate IV level unit.

Kora House is a brand new building with 20 self contained studio apartments with an amazing rooftop terrace. Next door to Kora House is Club Kinta, a community day program centre.

Community Home Australia is a specialist younger onset dementia and disability provider delivering permanent care, respite care and day programs across Canberra and is now opening in Sydney. We offer staffing ratios of 1:3 seven days a week in a non-institutional setting.

All applicants must :

  • hold a Certificate IV in Aged Care or Disability (or equivalent)
  • have a desire to work with people living with dementia and mental illness
  • have completed training in medication administration and have experience administering medications
  • have a desire and willingness to complete ongoing education and training
  • be currently living in Australia
  • have authority to work in Australia

The role is hands on which is a combination of direct care work, activities and household tasks including cleaning, laundry and food preparation plus working with a team of direct care workers. We require all staff to display flexibility and a willingness to engage with our guests to enable them to live their lives as they wish.

Kora House is managed by a full time Registered Nurse who provides supervision and clinical support with Registered Nurses available 7 days per week.
