We are growing and are seeking exceptional Support Workers to join a specialised support team.

Location

This role is based in the ACT–NSW border region, approximately 20–30 minutes from Canberra CBD. Reliable transport and the ability to travel to shifts independently is essential.

Pay and Employment Conditions

• Casual position
• Hourly rate aligned to SCHADS Award Disability Support Worker Level 2 (Casual) or more, depending on expereince
• Approximately $43+ per hour plus applicable penalty rates and allowances depending on classification and experience

About the Participant

We are supporting a young woman with complex health, neurological, communication and behavioural support needs. You must be comfortable following behaviour support strategies, risk protocols and working within clear safety boundaries.

Support considerations include:

• Complex epilepsy and seizure presentation
• Communication differences and changing communication needs
• Anxiety and emotional regulation support requirements
• Differences in language processing and expression
• Neurodivergent support needs requiring flexible and responsive approaches
• Changes impacting spatial awareness and day-to-day functioning

She communicates using AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and responds best to calm, regulation-focused and low-demand support approaches.

Support Approach

This role requires a person who understand that connection comes before direction.

Support includes:

• Building trust and maintaining emotional regulation
• Using short, clear communication (ideally no more than 3 words at a time)
• Supporting daily routines and meaningful engagement
• Recognising signs of overwhelm and responding proactively
• Following seizure and safety protocols
• Supporting community participation and quality of life

Who We Are Looking For

Essential:

• Experience supporting people with Autism Level 3 and/or complex behaviours
• Experience working with epilepsy or neurological conditions
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
• Understanding of trauma-informed and regulation-based approaches
• Valid First Aid and CPR
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Driver’s Licence

Highly Regarded:

• Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability or related field
• Crisis Prevention / Behaviour Support training
• Experience with AAC and alternative communication
• Experience supporting people with complex epilepsy or rare disorders
• Positive Behaviour Support experience
