About the Role

The primary purpose of the Safety, Health, Sustainability Advisor (SHS) role is to provide information, assessment and verification of the application of Qube’s Standards and Processes for the ORC Construction Project for Qube as the Principal Contractor. SHS Management is one of the key deliverables for the business and to demonstrate to the client, state or territory legislative bodies that they have safety management processes developed and have sufficient rigor to control the business risks and meet the standards established by the relevant Acts and Regulations.

Specific Responsibilities

SHS

  • Awareness of the unique contractual relationship of the ORC Construction Project and the duties of a Principal Contractor under Victorian OHS Legislation.
  • Develop, implement and monitor the site SHS Management Plans to meet the site performance targets and meet the Business and Corporate requirements through the following
  • Liaise with third party site representatives (BBMT SBO, client reps etc) and regulatory bodies for the purposes of undertaking investigations, obtaining key information, conducting joint risk assessments and communicating the Qube SHS Management Plan.
  • Work with QDC (Construction Manager) to established SHS consultation and communications processes, including the WHS Representatives, WHS Committees, and toolbox meetings.
  • Provide the site with leadership and assistance in the development of a safety culture and environment which is consistent across all safety-critical functions.
  • Implement the change management standard when processes change on site and ensure that all change management objectives are meet and complied with.
  • Provide advice and support to the site manager ensuring that all legislative and legal obligations are adhered to in regards to OHS and workers compensation for Qube ORC project team.
  • Lead, mentor and coach Qube Project Management on SHS accountabilities to ensure that SHSMS is being implemented effectively on site.
  • Providing support to site based management on RTW and Injury Management for Qube ORC project team.
  • Undertake analysis of the site SHS performance, identifying trends and follow-up initiatives to address identified current or emerging trends.
  • Compile high quality and accurate monthly reporting on SHS performance.
  • Provide ongoing advice on best practice SHS by stying current with regulatory and industry SHS matters including legislation, codes of practice, standards and other shared resources.
  • Coordinate with appropriate confidentially random and show cause D & A testing through AusHealth.

Training

  • Develop and implement site training plans, skills matrices and budgets;
  • Schedule, develop and deliver training and assessment programs in consultation with Operations and Labour Managers
  • Coordinate necessary training resources for the Qube ORC project team.
  • Manage training records in line with Qube’s record keeping processes
  • Monitor skill ratings in Microster in consultation with Qube ORC Senior Project Manager; ensure consistency with training records
  • Close gaps identified in audits
  • Provide monthly reports on State training activities

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in OHS/WHS.
  • Minimum TAE40116 - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor.
  • A minimum of five years leading on an operational SHS environment.
  • Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM).
  • Experience in the implementation and management of safety management systems.
  • Identification and implementation of effective SHS initiatives.
  • Ability to develop tactical plans to address safety issues.
  • Heavy industry experience (mobile plant, lifting) preferred.
  • Return to Work Coordinator.
  • High Risk Licence
