About Us

Little Hooves Petting Zoo is a family-owned mobile petting zoo based in Windsor Downs, NSW. We are passionate about providing calm, hands-on animal experiences while maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare.

We visit birthday parties, schools, childcare centres, aged care facilities, disability services and community events across Greater Sydney, creating memorable experiences while educating people about responsible animal care.

We are currently looking for two enthusiastic Casual Animal Handlers to join our growing team.

Please note: This is a mobile role. Successful applicants must be willing to travel to events across Greater Sydney and surrounding areas. Some shifts commence and finish at our Windsor Downs property.

About the Role

This is a varied role combining animal care, event work and public interaction.

Duties may include:

  • Handling and caring for a variety of friendly farm animals including pygmy goats, Babydoll sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks, chickens and chicks.
  • Feeding, watering and assisting with the day-to-day care of animals at our Windsor Downs property.
  • Cleaning enclosures, animal housing and equipment to maintain high standards of hygiene and animal welfare.
  • Assisting with the safe loading, transport and unloading of animals.
  • Setting up and packing down portable fencing, shelters, gazebos and equipment for mobile events.
  • Supervising interactions between animals and guests while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of both visitors and animals.
  • Educating children and adults about the animals, their care and responsible animal handling.
  • Monitoring animal behaviour and recognising signs of stress, illness or injury.
  • Assisting with general property maintenance and other animal husbandry tasks as required.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine passion for animal welfare.
  • Is confident working with both animals and members of the public.
  • Is reliable, punctual and well presented.
  • Is willing to travel throughout Sydney and surrounding areas for events.
  • Is able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Is comfortable speaking with children and adults.
  • Is physically fit and capable of lifting and carrying equipment.
  • Holds a current driver's licence.

Qualifications & Experience

The following will be highly regarded:

  • Certificate III in Captive Animal Management, Animal Care, Veterinary Nursing or a related qualification.
  • Previous experience working with livestock, companion animals, wildlife, veterinary clinics, farms or zoos.
  • Experience working with children.
  • A reliable vehicle suitable for transporting animals and equipment.
