JOB TITLE:

Disability Support Workers (SIL/Residential Care)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking people who are committed to delivering quality care to people with disability. You will need to be passionate about providing a supportive home environment and be a motivated self-starter with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

Employees need to demonstrate a Person-Centered and positive approach to supporting and empowering customers.

TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT:

Casual/Part Time

REPORT TO:

Operations Manager

LOCATION:

Wellard, WA

ABOUT YOU:

The successful candidates must also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in caring for people with psychosocial or intellectual disabilities and the ability to oversee the general day to day tasks of disability support care, such as assisting with ADL's, cooking/assistance with cooking, supervising and assisting people, and medication;
  • Work in accordance with the medication administration policy, work health and safety procedures and client right’s policies including privacy and confidentiality.
  • Monitor the safety and well-being of the clients and report any concerns to the Manager.
  • The ability to work positively with others in a team environment
  • An empathetic approach to service delivery, with a flexible and adaptive style, a sense of humour , and keen attention to detail

QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant NDIS or Aged Care Experience (Preferred)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module
  • New Worker NDIS Induction Module
  • NDIS Worker Screening
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Criminal Record Clearance
  • Certificate III in Disability or other relevant qualification or working towards obtaining qualification within 12 months (Desirable)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in the delivery of personal care services and/or challenging behaviors is viewed favorably
  • Experience working with clients with Spinal Cord Injury
  • Must have experience in mental health

SKILLS:

  • Genuine desire to provide the best quality support for people with disabilities.
  • Reliable character.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work and communicate effectively with clients, their families, community agencies and other professionals.
  • Ability to work in a very busy environment and to work both independently and as a part of a team.
  • Understanding of privacy and confidentiality issues.

Job Type: Casual

Salary: $35.00 – $66.00 per hour

Schedule:

Work hours include morning, afternoon, night shift (Active & Inactive) & weekend shifts on a rotating fortnightly roster. The hours of the position will be approximately 40-50 hours per fortnight with ample opportunity for overtime.

License/Certification:

  • Disability/Aged Care qualifications
  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • Working with Children Check (Required)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (Required)
  • National Police Certificate (Required)
  • Driver License (Required)
