Technical Project Manager

About Codex

Codex is an Australian technology consultancy delivering high-quality data, cloud, and AI solutions for customers across sectors including healthcare, energy, and financial services.

We are a high-performing, fast-paced consultancy that values people who bring energy, accountability, and pride in their work. We care deeply about delivery — not just getting things done, but getting them done properly and in ways that genuinely help our customers succeed.

We are also officially Great Place to Work® Certified, reflecting the strong culture we've built - one grounded in trust, high standards, ownership, and genuine support for our people.

What This Role Actually Is

Let's be straight with you.

This isn't a PM role where you sit in a corner updating Jira tickets and sending status reports nobody reads. This is a delivery leadership role in a fast-moving AI and data consultancy where the work is complex, the customers are demanding, and the technology is evolving weekly.

You'll be leading delivery of data, AI, and cloud projects — working alongside engineers, data scientists, and consultants who are genuinely brilliant at what they do. Your job is to make sure all of that talent actually lands as outcomes for customers. On time. On budget. Without drama.

You'll report into our leadership team and have real ownership of how projects run.

What Your Days Will Look Like

Running Delivery

- Lead end-to-end delivery of technical projects — data platforms, AI solutions, cloud migrations — from kickoff to go-live

- Manage timelines, budgets, risks, and dependencies across multiple concurrent engagements

- Coordinate cross-functional teams of engineers, data scientists, and consultants — keeping everyone aligned and unblocked

- Make decisions. You won't always have perfect information. That's fine — we need someone who can move with confidence

Working With Customers

- Be the primary delivery point of contact for customers — they'll trust you, lean on you, and expect you to tell them the truth

- Facilitate communication between customers and our technical teams — translating both ways

- Manage expectations honestly. Under-promise, over-deliver. No spin.

- Build relationships that lead to repeat work — not through sales tactics, but through being genuinely excellent

Keeping Standards High

- Establish and maintain delivery practices that actually work — not process for the sake of process

- Run agile or hybrid delivery depending on what the project needs (we're pragmatic, not dogmatic)

- Drive quality in everything — documentation, handovers, retrospectives, and continuous improvement

- Support scoping and proposals for new work when needed — you'll know what's realistic because you're the one delivering it

What We're Looking For

- Proven experience delivering complex technical projects in consulting or professional services

- Strong understanding of data, cloud, and AI technologies — you don't need to write the code, but you need to understand what the team is building and why

- Experience with AWS (or equivalent cloud platforms) — enough to have informed conversations about architecture, cost, and feasibility

- Excellent communication — you can talk to a CTO and a junior engineer in the same afternoon and land with both

- Comfortable with ambiguity — we're a growing consultancy, not a machine. Things change. You adapt.

- Experience with Agile, Scrum, or hybrid delivery — and the judgement to know when to flex the methodology

What Sets You Apart

- A background in software engineering, data, or technical delivery before moving into PM — you've been in the trenches

- Experience delivering AI or data-heavy projects specifically (not just generic IT)

- Confidence to push back on customers and internal teams when something doesn't make sense

- Commercial awareness — you understand margins, utilisation, and what makes a project profitable

- You've worked in a consultancy before and you know the rhythm: multiple customers, competing priorities, context-switching all day

Ways of Working

- High energy and strong ownership — if it's your project, it's your problem

- You move fast and make decisions without waiting for permission

- You care about quality but you're not precious — done well is better than perfect never

- You're direct. No corporate fluff. Say what you mean.

- You thrive in fast-paced environments where no two days look the same

- You're adaptable — when things change (and they will), you don't freeze, you adjust

Why You'd Want This Role

- Real Ownership – These are your projects. No PMO overhead, no death by committee

- Interesting Work – Data, AI, cloud — the projects are genuinely complex and intellectually stimulating

- Great Place to Work® Certified – A culture built on trust, ownership, and high standards

- Strong Team – You'll work with smart, passionate people who care about doing great work

- Growth – We're scaling fast. There's room to grow into delivery leadership, practice leads, or whatever you want to build

- Flexibility – Hybrid working in Melbourne.

Pay: $150,000.00 – $200,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Melbourne VIC
