Our client, Umber Group Pty Ltd, trading as 3 Sisters Indian Restaurant, is seeking an experienced full-time Chef to join its kitchen team in Heidelberg Heights, Victoria. The position offers an annual salary range of $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation, depending on skills and experience.

3 Sisters Indian Restaurant operates as a full-service Indian restaurant offering authentic Indian home-cooked soul food inspired by heirloom recipes and childhood kitchen stories passed down through generations. Its menu features aromatic spices, rich curries, fragrant biryanis, and vegetarian and vegan delights, reflecting the restaurant’s focus on family, flavour, tradition and honest hospitality.

Key responsibilities include:

· Planning menus featuring Indian cuisine, calculating food and labour costs, and arranging the purchase of food supplies, spices and ingredients.

· Checking the quality of Indian dishes throughout preparation, cooking, and presentation.

· Discussing food preparation and service-related matters with managers, dietitians, kitchen staff and waiting staff.

· Demonstrating cooking techniques and providing guidance on appropriate food preparation and cooking procedures of Indian dishes.

· Preparing and cooking a variety of Indian dishes according to established recipe standards.

· Explaining and maintaining hygiene, food safety, and sanitation regulations throughout kitchen operations.

· Assisting with the selection, training and supervision of kitchen staff where required.

· Freezing, storing and preserving food items, including spices, sauces and other ingredients, in accordance with food safety standards.

· Monitoring ingredient quality, stock rotation, and portion consistency to maintain food quality and minimise wastage.

· Assisting the preparation and coordination of kitchen operations during service to ensure meals are produced efficiently and consistently.

Qualifications:

· Must hold Certificate III and Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, along with a Diploma of Hospitality Management.

· Should have at least one (1) year of experience as a professional Chef in Australia.

Note: Australian citizens and permanent residents are preferred.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
