About The Role

As a Telecommunications or Electronics Technician, you will play a key role in the installation and maintenance of critical communications systems across mine sites. You’ll combine your technical expertise with strong customer service skills to deliver timely, effective support and resolve equipment issues. Working a 7-on, 7-off roster, you can focus on supporting essential infrastructure and achieving real results, followed by extended time to relax, travel, or enjoy home and family time.


The role will include the following tasks:

  • Design and configure IP networks
  • Repair, maintain and install radio communication, CCTV systems and wireless networks
  • Fault identification and repair of networks
  • Conduct RF active and passive site surveys
  • Respond to equipment issues and problem solve to achieve positive outcomes in a timely manner
  • Assist with commissioning and start-up of new installations
  • Liaise with vendors, suppliers, engineers and site-based resources as required
  • Work with engineering and project teams to develop technical solutions for clients
  • Work both in an office environment, and onsite with our customers and partners

About You

To be successful in this role, you will enjoy working in a team environment and demonstrate a strong and professional commitment to safe work practices. Prior experience in the installation and maintenance or service of communications, sensing/telemetry or similar electronics systems is highly regarded. If you have the right attitude and share our values, we will also support your training and career development, including secondment opportunities with other Emergent Group companies.



Requirements


Essential Criteria

  • Cert III or IV in Telecommunications or Electronics
  • Demonstrated experience in the installation, maintenance and fault identification of digital radio systems
  • Experience in IP network technologies, configuration and fault identification
  • Knowledge and understanding of network monitoring tools such as Solarwinds
  • ACMA OPEN Licence (including structured, coaxial, optic fibre endorsements)
  • Structured thinking and sound analytical skills in fault-finding and problem solving
  • Positive attitude, highly self motivated with good attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, work with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Valid Australian manual C class drivers licence and ability to travel as required

Desirable Experience

  • Cisco and Rajant qualifications or experience
  • Initial response first aid certificate (or higher)
  • Working at Heights (high risk license with EWP over 11m), and in Enclosed Spaces
  • Defence background in communications
