Full job description

The Shed Café Schofields is looking for an experienced and reliable Cook to join our friendly team.

We are conveniently located next to Coles, approximately a five-minute walk from Schofields Station and around 20 minutes by train from Parramatta Station.

Do you enjoy working with fresh ingredients and preparing delicious, well-presented food? Are you comfortable working independently as well as within a small team? Do you prefer early starts and early finishes? This could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items safely, consistently and efficiently.
  • Follow recipes, portion guides and presentation standards.
  • Assist with ordering, receiving and correctly storing stock.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen.
  • Ensure utensils and equipment are cleaned and sanitised before use.
  • Complete kitchen cleaning and closing duties at the end of each shift.
  • Assist with customer orders and POS transactions when required.
  • Follow all food safety and workplace hygiene requirements.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of six months of food preparation or commercial kitchen experience.
  • Confidence using commercial-grade knives and kitchen equipment.
  • The ability to follow detailed recipes and preparation guides.
  • A strong work ethic and excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to work confidently alone and as part of a small team.
  • A good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Experience using a POS cash-register system, or willingness to learn.
  • Availability across weekdays, weekends and public holidays when required.
  • Availability to work at least one weekend day each week.
  • A Food Safety Supervisor certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Full and valid working rights in Australia.
