About the Role
  • Back of House (BOH) Technician assist with all BOH duties and functions as required for any theatre production or event. Work can encompass bump in/bump out, rehearsal, performance and general maintenance periods.
  • BOH Technicians are expected to be able to work autonomously on given tasks in the theatre and exercise discretion when undertaking their duties. They act as a representative of the State Theatre Technical Department and must be able to communicate clearly and positively with touring production

  • Loading/unloading vehicles
  • Fly system operation
  • Fly system loading
  • Rigging/focusing lighting fixtures
  • Follow spot operation
  • General staging setup
  • Show cue operation
  • Assist with the setup, operation and monitoring of all BOH equipment and assets including (but not limited to) lighting equipment, cinema screen, follow spots, fly system and house Lights.
  • Assist, as required, in the maintenance of the theatre including (but not limited to) electrical systems, plumbing, fly line system, lighting, fire equipment and services, re-globing and auditorium seating.
