Introduction:
The Opportunity
Nestled in 20 hectares of natural bushland, Carey Baptist College Forrestdale offers a unique educational environment where nature meets modern, purpose-built facilities. Established in 2016, our rapidly growing campus provides a vibrant learning community with custom-designed STEM spaces and outdoor learning environments created to foster student curiosity.
Carey Baptist College is seeking a passionate, highly skilled, and adaptable Christian Secondary Science or Mathematics Teacher to join our Secondary team commencing in January 2027. We are flexible regarding load and are happy to consider applicants seeking between 0.6 FTE and a full-time 1.0 FTE placement.
This position is ideal for an educator who thrives on helping students connect theoretical concepts to real-world applications within a supportive Christian framework. The ability to teach Year 11 and 12 ATAR Physics is highly desirable, as we continue to expand our upper-secondary pathway offerings in our state-of-the-art STEM infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
•
Deliver Engaging Curriculum: Plan, facilitate, and assess high-quality learning across Secondary Science and/or Mathematics, with the capacity to deliver senior ATAR Physics warmly welcomed.
•
Embed Explicit Pedagogy: Utilise evidence-based teaching strategies, drawing on AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) frameworks to build inquiry, collaboration, organisation, and critical thinking habits in every classroom.
•
Foster STEM Mindsets: Leverage our state-of-the-art facilities and natural campus landscape to create immersive, inquiry-driven learning experiences.
•
Support Student Wellbeing: Champion an inclusive, encouraging culture that nurtures character development, resilience, and academic growth.
•
Collaborate & Innovate: Work alongside dedicated colleagues to refine learning programmes aligned with the College’s mission and strategic vision.
About You
You are an experienced or emerging secondary-trained teacher with a heart for student growth and a commitment to relational, faith-informed teaching. You recognise that learning happens best when students feel known, valued, and challenged to attempt the extraordinary.
We would love to hear from you if you have:
•
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Secondary Education with specialisation in Science or Mathematics (Senior Physics expertise highly regarded).
•
Experience with, or a strong desire to embrace, AVID pedagogical methodologies (WICOR: Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organisation, and Reading) alongside Visible Learning practices to raise academic ambition.
•
A reflective teaching practice that uses data and formative feedback to guide student progress.
•
An active Christian faith and a desire to play your part in the story of God in the world as a key contributor to our open-enrolment Christian community.
About Carey
Carey Baptist College is a community with a big vision: to see a world transformed by the love of God. Serving local families across our K to 12 offering, we aim to build an active, connected community where students, families, and staff strive to ‘attempt the extraordinary’ because we believe it truly matters.
How to Apply
If you are ready to inspire the next generation of scientists, mathematicians, and critical thinkers, we want to hear from you! Please submit your application as soon as possible.
Note: The College reserves the right to appoint a suitable candidate prior to the closing date, so early applications are strongly encouraged.
