The Opportunity
We are looking for a commercially-minded and intellectually curious Knowledge Lawyer to join our national Class Actions team, based in our Sydney office. This role will play a pivotal role in shaping how we deliver, innovate and grow in one of the most dynamic areas of our national litigation practice. Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer has invested heavily in AI and legal technology and this position will have a particular focus on supporting the development and implementation of AI-enabled solutions to improve matter delivery, knowledge management, client service and operational efficiency.
What you’ll do

Monitor market developments to identify opportunities with prospective and existing clients, including class action pitch opportunities.

Manage the preparation of key materials for external business development activities, including client talks, podcasts and roundtables.

Contribute to the Class Actions practice's AI and data strategy by helping to develop and implement AI-enabled workflows, products and knowledge resources.

Collaborate with Partners, Business Development and Learning & Development to create and edit thought leadership articles, training and blogs.

Support initiatives that leverage matter data and market intelligence to create value for clients and the practice.

Act as subject matter expert for projects relying on practice group content or for knowledge-related projects within the team.

Focus on increasing skills and commerciality around the team makeup/leverage, whilst working with pricing and resourcing managers to ensure the profitability of the work.
What you’ll bring

A law degree and relevant practice experience in class actions or related disputes, with 5 or more years post-admission experience.

An interest in building strategic business relationships and identifying/pursuing new business.

A high level of credibility and the ability to act as a trusted adviser to partners, legal staff and business services staff.

The ability to deal autonomously, flexibly and effectively with a wide variety of people at various levels across the business.

An innovative mindset, curious about AI and emerging technologies.
