About Centrecare
Centrecare is a not-for-profit organisation with over 300 employees and is committed to delivering quality professional counselling, support, accommodation, mediation and training services in over 11 locations across the Perth metropolitan, Goldfields and South West regions.
The Service
The Frontline Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence (FDSV) Initiative delivers trauma-informed support to adult and child victim-survivors of family, domestic and sexual violence across regional, rural and remote communities. The service prioritises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities. The program provides timely, client-centred responses to people experiencing or at risk of FDSV, including risk assessment, safety planning and holistic support. Staff work alongside individuals and families to promote safety, healing and social wellbeing, offering counselling, education, advocacy and referral pathways. The service also connects clients to crisis, refuge and specialist supports where required and facilitates referrals to perpetrator intervention services to support positive behaviour change.
The Role
Community Services Worker Trainee 50D will support practitioners to engage respectfully with clients in a culturally safe and trauma-informed manner to assist with client intake, information gathering and referrals to internal and external support services.
A few specifics:
- Contribute to safety planning and risk assessment processes under supervision.
- Provide practical support to clients, including advocacy, education and service navigation. Support children and young people impacted by family, domestic and sexual violence through age-appropriate and culturally responsive approaches.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including maintaining accurate and confidential case notes and client records.
- Participate in training, supervision and professional development opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with team members, community partners and Aboriginal organisations. Uphold organisational policies, ethical standards and duty of care requirements.
About You
- Currently progressing toward completing a qualification, Certificate III or above in Community Services or related discipline, and/or have a diverse lived experience or cultural expertise, plus looking to pursue and engage in formal study.
- Experience in collaborating with Aboriginal families and communities.
- Knowledge of the impact of domestic violence on Aboriginal children and families and be able to respond appropriately to a client in crisis.
- Demonstrated professional boundaries and adherence.
- Current WA Drivers’ licence.
- National Police Certificate (not older than 6 months from the issue date).
- Valid Working with Children Check (or eligibility to obtain)
