Manning Base Hospital - Taree
Unaccredited Trainee - Department of Emergency Medicine
Temporary Full-Time or Part-Time
About the role
The Manning Base Hospital Emergency Medicine, Unaccredited training programme offers committed medical officers interested in honing their acute medical skills the opportunity to develop knowledge, confidence and experience in a protected environment. Working to the motto of “Excellence through Education”, Manning hospital prides itself on supporting junior medical staff looking to step up to the Registrar level of their training.
The Manning Emergency Department is accredited by ACEM for completion of Emergency Medicine Certificates, Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas. All successful applicants will be given support to complete Advanced Life Support, Resus 4 Kids, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, and commence a district wide Point of Care Ultrasound Accreditation program if desired.
Upon completion of the Unaccredited Training program medical officers will be equipped with the skills and experience to apply for vocational training with an Australian Specialist College.
Those with a demonstrable commitment to rural and regional communities are especially encouraged to apply.

Where you'll be working
Manning Hospital consists of 180 beds and, within, provides an excellent range of other specialist inpatient services including Emergency Medicine, Palliative Care, General Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Intensive Care, Psychiatry, Renal, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Anaesthesia, Rehabilitation Services, Urology and Oncology Services to the local communities of Taree, Forster, Tuncurry and surrounding Lower Mid North Coast.
Manning Base Hospital treats approximately 25,000 inpatients, 33,000 Emergency Department patients and 90,700 outpatients each year.
With a population of over 90,300 and with the median age of 52 years old the Lower Mid North Coast Sector is projected to have the highest growth in the group age of 85 years and over.

- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
- Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable Emergency Medicine clinical environment .
- Ability to work at the facilities within the Network to deliver patient care and preparedness and ability to participate in a 24 hrs shift work roster.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- At least three years' post graduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent)
