Hatch is seeking an early-career sustainability consultant to support the delivery of advisory, planning and project sustainability services across major infrastructure and urban development projects in Australia and globally. This position will support the Sustainability team in providing advisory services across sustainability, economics, social value, governance and environmental outcomes for major infrastructure, transport and urban development projects.
As the successful candidate, you will:
- Support the development of sustainability strategies, management plans and project deliverables.
- Assist with Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) ratings and other sustainability assessment and reporting processes.
- Collect, analyse and interpret sustainability data, project performance metrics and key indicators.
- Undertake research, benchmarking and quantitative analysis to support project outcomes and business cases.
- Assist with sustainability reporting, evidence collection and compliance tracking.
- Liaise with project teams including engineering, planning, environmental, economics and project management disciplines.
- Support workshops, stakeholder engagement activities and project coordination tasks.
- Prepare reports, presentations and client-facing documentation.
- Contribute to lessons learned, innovation initiatives and knowledge sharing across projects.
- Contribute to AUA and global Environment, People and Place initiatives.
This role is well suited to an early-career professional with approximately 3-8 years' experience in sustainability, infrastructure, urban development, economics, planning, environmental management, engineering, public policy or a related field. We are particularly interested in candidates who are developing a technical specialism in one or more of the following areas:
- Sustainability and Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) ratings.
- Economics and business case development.
- Social value, social impact and community outcomes.
- ESG, governance and sustainability reporting.
- Climate, environment and natural capital.
Experience or familiarity with the Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) Rating Scheme, sustainability reporting frameworks, ESG reporting, social value assessment, economic appraisal, carbon assessment, or sustainability performance measurement will be highly regarded. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and quantitative skills, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication abilities. They will demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, with the capacity to effectively manage multiple tasks and competing priorities. A collaborative mindset and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams are essential, along with a genuine interest in sustainable infrastructure, transport, and urban development projects.
