Full job description

At Ginger Indian Restaurant in Harris Park, NSW, discover the authentic flavours of India. Their menu features an array of specialised dishes, including Non-Vegetarian and Vegetarian Entrees, Non-Vegetarian and Vegetarian Mains, Rice, Naan/Breads, Sides, Kids Specials, Desserts, and more. Currently they have a vacancy for an experienced and skilled chef, who can work independently and manage the team. This is a full-time position for right applicant.

Qualification:

  • AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in relevant field OR
  • At least three years of relevant experience as Chef may substitute for the asking formal qualifications
  • At least 1–3 years’ of experience as chef.

Responsibilities: Prepare ingredients, cook food items on menu, ensure cleanliness of working area and hygienic practice, and maintain appropriate level of stock.

Duties: Your duties and responsibilities are as follows –

  • Planning menus
  • Ensure all food is prepared as per food preparation requirements.
  • Cook food items on the menu.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and other food preparation workers.
  • Preparing dishes according to different dietary needs.
  • Selects choice ingredients that will give dishes the best flavor.
  • Analyse recipes to assign prices to menu items, based on food, labour, and overhead costs.
  • Develop recipes and determine how to present dishes.
  • Estimating and setting portion sizes.
  • Managing inventory of stock and ordering raw materials
  • Ensure wastage is minimised by careful supervision of food preparation methods.
  • Maintaining health and hygiene in the kitchen.
  • Delegate duties to kitchen staff as per the menu requirements
  • Using kitchen equipment such as knives, ranges and oven, scales, grills, griddles and deep fryers etc.

Salary - $80,000 - $85,000 plus super
