Full job description

About Us

We're a Sydney-based content production company that works across corporate and events spaces nationally. We're not just looking for someone who can press record. We want someone who shows up prepared, brings energy to every shoot, and understands that the experience we create for clients matters just as much as the footage we capture.

Please read this ad in full to secure an interview.

The Role

Type: Contractor (project-to-project basis, half-day minimum per booking)
Rate: $100/hr + GST
Locations: Sydney

You'll receive creative direction and a brief for each project, but we also want someone who can think on their feet. Whether that’s suggesting shots, reading the room or thinking of ways to improve the deliverable. You're shooting with the edit in mind, even though you won't be doing the edit yourself.

Photography experience is a bonus! If you can confidently pick up stills alongside video on a shoot day, that's a big tick.

You'll need to have your own kit. This includes camera, lenses, audio, lighting. We'll brief you on what's needed per project, but you should be self-sufficient with your own gear.

What We're Looking For

You're someone who turns up early, over-prepared, and ready to go.

  • Resourceful on set. When something unexpected happens (and it will), you find a way through it rather than flagging it as someone else's problem.
  • Professional and personable. You understand that when you're on set, you're always on show. The way you carry yourself, communicate, and engage with everyone in the room reflects directly on CactusCan.
  • A genuine collaborator. You bring energy, you work well with a team, and you're easy to have on set.

Requirements

  • A professional-grade camera kit (camera body, lenses, audio, lighting basics)
  • Proven experience shooting corporate and/or event video content
  • Strong understanding of composition, lighting, and audio capture
  • Ability to follow a brief and a shot list while also thinking creatively on the day
  • Reliable transport to get yourself to shoots across Sydney metro
  • An ABN and appropriate insurance
  • Australian work authorisation

Nice to Have

  • Photography skills (corporate, event, or editorial)
  • Experience working across multiple cities or on travel shoots
  • Comfort with fast-paced, multi-setup shoot days

How to Apply

To apply give Matt a call on (02) 7255 5155. We'd rather have a conversation than read a cover letter.

Pay: $100.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
