About us

Ikigai Ramen is a locally owned Japanese ramen restaurant in the Gungahlin town centre. We open late into the evening and have a steady base of regular customers.

We are looking for an experienced Chef to join our kitchen team on a permanent full-time basis.

  • Check stock levels, place orders with suppliers and manage food costs and wastage
  • Keep the kitchen compliant with food safety, hygiene and HACCP requirements, including temperature logs and correct storage
  • Train and supervise junior cooks and kitchen hands, and check their work during service
  • Keep equipment clean and in good working order and report maintenance issues

  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or a higher qualification, or equivalent trade qualification
  • At least 2 years' full-time experience as a chef in a commercial kitchen
  • Experience working in a busy, high-volume kitchen
  • Working knowledge of food safety and hygiene rules
  • Ability to lead a small team during service
  • Experience with Japanese cuisine or ramen is an advantage but not required

  • 38 hours per week on a regular roster
  • Staff meals on shift
  • A stable, permanent position in a growing local business
