Glitch Productions is an independent animation studio based in Australia making original, long form animated shows distributed on Youtube. Our channel has over 18 million subscribers, tens of millions of views per episode and is still growing strong. Our studio is filled with incredibly talented and passionate artists that are determined to change the way animation is produced and treated in the industry. Our biggest IP; Digital Circus, has amassed over 350 million views on the pilot alone and we have a lot more still to come.

Role Information:

Glitch Productions is looking for a highly creative, and dedicated Freelance Senior Environment Artist to create rich, stylised environments for our animated productions. In this role, you'll design and build modular and bespoke environment assets, bringing immersive worlds to life within Unreal Engine. We have a wide variety of artstyles and aesthetics in our shows, offering our team a chance to expand their skills and experiment all the time.

Your duties will include:

  • Capability to create large scale modular sets or smaller scale intricate environment sets.
  • Model environments efficiently for use in Unreal Engine.
  • Texture environment assets to production quality.
  • Build scenes using Unreal Engine based on director callsheets and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the art team to achieve the desired visual style.
  • Optimise existing assets for performance and quality.
  • Conform to a structured animation style pipeline and naming conventions.
  • Deliver organised production-ready files.

A successful candidate will have:

  • Strong experience creating procedural and modular 3D environment assets for use in Unreal Engine.
  • Ability to model custom, detailed environment assets and smaller-scale set pieces to a high production standard.
  • Strong environment texturing skills, with experience using Substance Painter or similar texturing software.
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 for environment creation, scene assembly and asset integration.
  • Proficiency in Maya or Blender.
  • Strong understanding of topology, UV mapping and optimisation for real-time environments.
  • Ability to interpret concept art and create high-quality, production-ready environment assets.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respond to creative and technical feedback.

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience creating Unreal Engine Blueprints.
  • Experience developing materials and shaders within Unreal Engine.
  • Experience working on stylised animated productions or games.
