We provide strategic legal advice across a wide range of Australian immigration matters, including employer-sponsored visas, skilled migration, business and investment visas, partner visas, administrative review matters, and citizenship applications.

With more than 1,000 successful matters, our team is committed to delivering practical, high-quality legal services while fostering a supportive and collaborative workplace.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Practical Legal Training (PLT) student to join our growing team and gain valuable hands-on experience in Australian migration law.

About the Role

This placement offers an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced lawyers and registered migration agents, gaining practical exposure to a broad range of migration matters while developing the professional skills required for admission.

You will be involved in real client matters and receive mentoring throughout your placement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lawyers with the preparation and lodgement of visa applications.
  • Conduct legal and policy research.
  • Draft legal correspondence, submissions and supporting documents.
  • Assist with reviewing client documents and evidence.
  • Prepare file notes and maintain client records.
  • Attend client meetings and consultations where appropriate.
  • Liaise with clients regarding document requests and case updates.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and file management.
  • Support the legal team with other duties as required.

About You

To be successful, you should:

  • Be currently enrolled in an approved Practical Legal Training (PLT) program.
  • Have completed, or be close to completing, your Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor.
  • Have a genuine interest in Australian immigration and administrative law.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Be able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Work well both independently and within a team.
  • Have a professional and client-focused approach.

Desirable:

  • Ability to speak Mandarin and/or Cantonese.
  • Previous experience in a legal office or customer service environment.
