About this opportunity

Volunteer Role: Kookaburra Kids Camp & Activity Day Mentor (18+)

Join Kookaburra Kids in creating unforgettable experiences for young people impacted by family mental illness. Our volunteers play a vital role in providing a safe, supportive, and fun environment where kids can relax, connect, and just be themselves.

What the Role Involves:
As a volunteer mentor, you’ll support young people through a range of exciting outdoor and indoor activities — from team games and creative workshops to wellbeing and mental health education sessions. You’ll be part of a friendly, passionate team helping to build confidence, resilience, and positive connections among our kids.

You’ll also assist with supervision, encouragement, and general camp activities. Volunteers must be 18 years or older. Transport by bus and all meals are included during camps, so you can simply bring your enthusiasm and willingness to get involved.

Benefits for You:
Volunteering with Kookaburra Kids is a meaningful and rewarding experience. You’ll:
  • Make a direct, positive impact on the lives of young people.
  • Gain valuable hands-on experience in youth work, mental health, and community support.
  • Develop teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Enjoy fun, active days surrounded by like-minded volunteers and inspiring young people.

For Students:
We offer placement opportunities with hours signed off — 48 hours for camps and 3–8 hours for activity days — perfect for students in health, education, or community-related studies.

What to Expect:
You’ll be part of a welcoming, supportive team that values empathy, inclusion, and fun. Every activity day and camp is different, full of laughter, connection, and the chance to make a real difference.

Be part of something special — help us give young people the opportunity to grow, belong, and just be kids again.
