Job Description

Passionate about people? Help reduce social isolation and bring connection to older Australians.

If you care about people, want your work to have purpose, and value being part of a team that works well together and gets things done, this is a role where you can make a genuine impact.
At Lutheran Care, how we support our community directly shapes the experience of those we walk alongside. This role sits right in the middle of that. You’ll coordinate the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS), supporting volunteers and partners to provide meaningful companionship to older people who may be socially or culturally isolated.
Reporting to the ACVVS Team Leader, you’ll play a key role in coordinating volunteers, working with aged care providers, and ensuring the program is delivered effectively across the community

About the role

This is a hands-on coordination role with real community impact.
You’ll recruit, support and coordinate volunteer visitors, ensuring they are well matched with older people to create meaningful, lasting connections. You’ll work closely with volunteers, aged care providers and community members to assess needs, support relationships and monitor the quality of the program.
Alongside day-to-day coordination, you’ll maintain accurate records, support reporting requirements, and contribute to ongoing improvements to the program.
This role is based in Hahndorf and involves travel across metro and regional locations as required.

What you’ll be doing

  • Recruit, induct and support volunteer visitors
  • Match volunteers with aged care residents and community clients
  • Liaise with aged care providers and stakeholders to support program delivery
  • Assess the needs of older people receiving visits
  • Monitor volunteer relationships and provide ongoing support
  • Maintain records and contribute to reporting and data collection
  • Participate in network meetings and program activities

What you'll bring

  • Experience in volunteer coordination or community services
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and empathy when working with older people
  • Strong administrative and organisational capability
  • Confidence working with diverse communities
  • Experience in aged care or a not-for-profit environment
  • Understanding of CALD and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community

Why this role

This is a role where your work is visible and valued.
You’ll be supporting a program that brings connection and companionship to older people experiencing social isolation, and your work will directly influence their wellbeing and quality of life.
Working across volunteers, aged care providers and community networks, you’ll help create meaningful relationships that strengthen community connection and inclusion.
