An exciting opportunity for an experienced fauna ecologist, with a passion for fauna, self-driven to investigate all manner of fauna, have excellent observation skills and a desire to make a difference in the protection of wildlife and ensuring they are properly and professionally considered.
You will be undertaking fauna surveys, and prepare ecological assessments within our ecological services team.
Key competencies
- An degree in Environmental Sciences or a relevant natural resource discipline.
- Ability to identify wildlife calls, visual identification and analysis of electronic data,
- Ability to undertake site surveys to classify dominant tree species for foraging habitat.
- Ability to identify common and threatened native fauna species,
- Ability to operate or learn the operation of electronic surveillance equipment and analysis software
- Competent Anabat and Kaleidoscope Analysis
- Ability to write concise and detailed biodiversity impact assessments.
Essential Criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualifications.
- A high level of attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- High level competencies with the MS Office suite.
- A valid Australian manual driver’s licence, with four-wheel drive experience and training preferable.
- Willingness to be vaccinated against animal borne diseases.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, as you will liaise with team members from different disciplines, clients and government agencies to ensure delivery of innovative solutions that meet client and broader community expectations.
- Be flexible in geographic locations of work as some travel and some overnight stays may be required.
- Highly organised to plan and manage projects.
