Full job description

Your role    

As a Chef in the Air Force, you’ll be responsible for fuelling personnel and ensuring they are ready to go. With new menus created every day, you’ll be catering high quality meals on bases, in-flight kitchens or in field kitchens, in support of exercises and operations.

Your duties may include:   

  • developing nutritious daily menus
  • preparing main meals, salads, sweets, and in-flight rations
  • procuring of rations and stock management
  • preparing in-flight catering for aircrew and passengers
  • supporting VIP events and functions
  • training and preparation for deployments.

You’ll be paid from day one to gain all the skills and trade qualifications needed with extensive on-the-job training, all while living an adventurous lifestyle and making a difference to Australia.

Salary    

Upon completion of initial military and employment training, you will enjoy a salary package starting from $82,322

Location    

Following training, you may be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia, such as RAAF Base Amberley, Williamtown, or Edinburgh.    

Eligibility

For this role, you must be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have passed Year 10 with English and Maths as mandatory subjects. If you are not an Australian Citizen please visit the ADF Careers Eligibility Page to confirm you meet the requirements for a career in the ADF.
