WorkCover Queensland is entering an exciting new chapter, guided by a renewed strategic focus and strong executive leadership shaping our 2030 Strategy. We’re embarking on an enterprise-wide transformation to strengthen our impact and continue making a positive difference in people’s lives.
The Opportunity
As WorkCover Queensland continues to strengthen its risk and governance capability, the Compliance Advisor role is key to ensuring we meet our regulatory obligations and maintain strong compliance practices across the organisation. Reporting to the Manager Compliance, this role supports the delivery of second line compliance activities, contributing to effective risk management, governance and decision‑making. You’ll play an important part in supporting enterprise‑wide compliance initiatives and ensuring the organisation continues to operate with integrity while delivering on its strategic priorities.
What You Will Do
- Support the delivery of WorkCover’s second line compliance function, helping embed sound compliance practices and risk‑aware decision‑making across the business.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of compliance policies, frameworks and procedures aligned to regulatory requirements and best practice.
- Assist in executing the compliance program, including monitoring activities, compliance assessments and assurance reviews to ensure obligations are met.
- Support the management of legislative obligations, including maintaining the obligations register and identifying new or emerging compliance requirements.
- Assist with breach management processes and contribute to investigations, reporting and resolution activities where required.
- Provide compliance‑related data, analysis and insights to support reporting for the Executive Leadership Team, Risk Committee and Board.
- Work with stakeholders across the business to support compliance initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
- Identify risks and opportunities to improve compliance processes, contributing to stronger governance outcomes.
About You
- Experience working in compliance, risk or governance roles within complex or regulated environments.
- Sound understanding of compliance frameworks, regulatory requirements and second line of defence practices.
- Experience supporting compliance programs, including monitoring, assurance activities, obligations management or breach handling.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret information and provide clear, practical insights.
- Experience preparing clear and concise reports for senior stakeholders, including Executive or Board‑level audiences.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across the organisation.
- Well‑developed communication skills, with the ability to convey complex compliance concepts in a clear and practical way.
- Relevant qualifications in Business, Law or a related discipline (with compliance or risk certifications highly regarded).
