Permanent Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 38 Hours per Week

Are you looking for a rewarding career working outdoors in one of Australia’s most beautiful coastal environments?

Wapengo Rocks is seeking two reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking Oyster Farm Hands to join our small, dedicated team at Wapengo Lake on the Far South Coast of NSW, between Tathra and Bermagui.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, wants to be part of the aquaculture industry and is looking for a long-term position with genuine opportunities to develop their skills and career.

About Wapengo Rocks

Wapengo Sydney Rock Oyster Company Pty Ltd (Wapengo Rocks) is one of Australia's most innovative Sydney Rock Oyster farms.

Located on the pristine waters of Wapengo Lake, we are a multi-award-winning oyster producer and Australia's first and only organically certified Sydney Rock Oyster farm.

Our focus is on producing premium-quality oysters while continually developing innovative and sustainable aquaculture practices.

We are entering an exciting period in our company’s history and are only looking for those who are committed to growing with us.

About the Role

The position involves a combination of on-water and land-based oyster farming activities.

You will work as part of a small team undertaking a wide range of activities associated with the production, maintenance and harvesting of Sydney Rock Oysters.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in oyster farming or aquaculture – 2+ years' experience preferred
  • Physically fit and comfortable undertaking labour-intensive outdoor work
  • Genuinely interested in developing a career in aquaculture
  • Reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Adaptable and willing to learn new skills
  • Able to work effectively in a dynamic and innovative environment
  • A good communicator with a positive attitude
  • Safety-conscious and committed to maintaining high workplace standards

Essential Requirements

  • Current Australian motor vehicle licence
  • Coxswain Grade 3 certificate, or the ability and willingness to obtain one
  • Full Australian work rights

Please note: applicants holding holiday, working holiday or other short-term working visas will not be considered for these positions.
