Company Description

We’re Jetstar. You may know us for our famous low fares, but did you also know that we’ve flown more than 400 million customers since we launched in Australia in 2004? In fact, each week we operate around 3,000 flights to nearly 40 destinations across Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the Pacific. We also operate a fleet of more than 80 aircraft, including state-of-the-art Airbus A320/21 NEO aircraft and the Airbus A320 family and Boeing 787-8s. Every day we enable more people to take-off to more places, more often.

Impressive numbers? What's even more impressive is the team of extraordinary people taking off together day in day out, flight after flight.

Job Description

  • Play a key part in delivering a memorable experience across the entire customer journey.

  • In this fast-paced environment, you’ll deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining safety and ensuring on-time operations.

  • Permanent, part-time position based at Cairns airport

Ready to be the face of Jetstar?

Our Airport Crew are the heartbeat of Jetstar. The friendly faces who greet customers on the ground, you’ll love creating memorable airport experiences. You’ll be equally committed to safety, making sure things run smoothly and on time. Based at domestic and international airports throughout the Jetstar network, our Airport Crew are the guardians of compliance, looking after policies and procedures like customer service standards and check-in – also Customs, Immigration and Quarantine rules.

What you’ll do:

As a Cabin Baggage Officer, you’re the friendly face at the gate, helping keep our flights fair, safe and running on time. From chatting with passengers to weighing and tagging cabin bags, you’ll handle every interaction with confidence, care and a touch of Jetstar personality. You’ll work closely with your airport crew to keep things moving, manage payments where needed, and handle those trickier moments (like excess baggage) with professionalism and ease. All while, following safety standards, and keeping the experience positive for everyone heading off on their journey.

As a Customer Service Officer, you’re there from the very start of the journey - welcoming customers at check-in, helping them breeze through kiosks, and supporting them right through to boarding. Whether you’re processing bookings, assisting with disrupted flights, or reuniting someone with their bag, you know how to stay calm, helpful and solution focused. You’ll also lend a hand to passengers who need extra support, work closely with teams across the airport, and keep information flowing so every flight leaves smoothly. You’re quick on your feet, great with people, and take pride in turning travel moments, big or small, into positive experiences. No two days are the same, and that’s exactly how you like it!

You don’t need any aviation experience to apply. For us, travel and meeting new people go hand in hand so we welcome applications from all walks of life and service backgrounds.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • An engaging, energetic communicator who connects easily with people

  • At least 1 year of experience delivering great customer experiences

  • A minimum of 18 years of age

  • Unlimited working rights in Australia (no sponsorship required)

  • Flexible and reliable, with availability to work a 7-day rotating roster

  • Confident handling payments and comfortable navigating multiple systems and technology

  • Able to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • A team player who contributes to a positive and supportive workplace

  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and safety

Your life at Jetstar is unlike any other:

  • Live the travel dream: You can all take off more with our famous Qantas Group Staff Travel discount. You'll be able to access industry discounts on hotels, holiday packages, car hire and experiences around the globe.

  • Take off professionally: Part of our team, you’re onboard with the Qantas Group too, which means more opportunity to take off in your career across different locations, roles and airlines.

  • Depart from 9 to 5: Personal leave, carer's leave, leave without pay, it’s yours. We also offer leave for commitments such as the Defence Force and SES.

  • There’s a place for everyone at Jetstar: For us, travel and meeting new people go hand in hand. We invite our people to get involved in various Employee Network Groups that play an important role in creating our inclusive and supportive culture that we are fiercely proud of. We believe that teams with a diversity of ideas and experiences are more creative, innovative and solve problems quickly. We welcome applications from anyone who wants to take off with us. If you have support or access requirements, just reach out and let us know what you need.

We’re Jetstar. Let’s take off together.
