Pit Crew

  • 509782
  • Melbourne, VIC, Australia
  • Part Time

Hello. We're Virgin Australia, and we're excited to invite you to join our diverse and inclusive Pit Crew – a warm and welcoming team of baggage handlers who play a key role in helping our flights be on time and our passengers' belongings to reach their destinations safely.

This role suits people who have had manual handling experience as it’s a physical role where you’ll be regularly lifting and moving bags that are up to 32kg each. If you’ve worked as a warehouse worker, as a picker and packer, in trades or as a labourer, have a great attitude, enjoy teamwork and like the idea of working around aircraft, then you’ll love being a ramp agent with our Pit Crew.

What you'll be doing

Dive into an immersive experience working as part of an airline, where you'll be hands-on in the bag room and cargo hold, thoughtfully loading and unloading luggage and freight.

You'll help with aircraft door operations and boarding stairs, safely loading adorable pets, and of course operate those little baggage tugs! This role offers a dynamic outdoor environment filled with variety, teamwork, and the opportunity to create lifelong friendships.

You’ll be great in this role if you…

  • Embody strength, adaptability, and reliability
  • Excel under pressure, in an changing environment where weather, schedules, and the unexpected are all part of the adventure
  • Possess an Australian driver's licence
  • Have the right to live and work in Australia
  • Embrace a flexible rotating shift roster that includes early starts, late finishes, weekends, and public holidays.

What you'll get from us

  • Your well-being is our priority, and we're dedicated to supporting you with industry-leading benefits and conditions, including:
  • Comprehensive resources for mental, physical, social, and financial well-being, including counselling and online tools
  • Extensive training provided (No experience? No problem!)
  • Exclusive discounts on flights for you and your loved ones, with an annual credit of $1000
  • A generous annual leave of 5 weeks
  • Additional compensation for weekend shifts, early starts, and late finishes, along with opportunities for extra shifts
  • Savings on travel insurance, membership to the Virgin Australia Lounge, car rentals, accommodations, and global experiences
  • Access to the ‘Virgin Family’ platform, connecting you with staff-only special offers with Virgin brands around the world
  • Abundant pathways for career growth and advancement.

When everyone is included, everyone wins

At Virgin Australia, we celebrate individuality. We welcome applications from Indigenous Australians, individuals with disabilities, those from diverse cultural backgrounds, our cherished LGBTQI+ community, and all who are eager to become part of our family.
