Apprentice Light Vehicle Mechanic

The Garage — Miami, Gold Coast QLD

Full-time apprenticeship · Open to all levels (1st year through to later-stage)

About the role

Want to get paid to learn a trade? The Garage in Miami is looking for an apprentice light vehicle mechanic to join our workshop. You'll earn a nationally recognised Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology while working hands-on every day alongside experienced mechanics — no classroom-only theory, real cars from day one.

We're open to school leavers starting their 1st year, apprentices part-way through looking for a better workshop, and mature-age applicants ready for a career change. If you've got the right attitude, we'll teach you the rest.

What you'll be learning and doing

  • General servicing and repairs — log book services, brakes, cooling systems and general mechanical work across all makes and models
  • Tyres, suspension and steering — fitting and balancing, wheel alignments, suspension diagnosis and repair
  • Keeping the workshop safe, clean and organised
  • Working with our team and TAFE/RTO trainers to complete your Certificate III

What we're looking for

  • A current driver's licence
  • Your own reliable transport to get to the workshop
  • Genuine interest in cars and a willingness to learn
  • Reliability — show up on time, ready to have a go
  • No experience required — attitude and work ethic matter more than your resume

What you'll get

  • Award apprentice wages under the Vehicle Repair, Services and Retail Award, increasing each year as you progress
  • A nationally recognised trade qualification (Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology)
  • Hands-on mentoring from qualified mechanics in a supportive local workshop
  • Variety — independent workshop means you'll work on everything, not just one brand

Pay: $50,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Employee discount

Work Location: In person
