About the Role

Student Support Officers work within the school community to enhance student wellbeing and learning outcomes in partnership with the wellbeing team and the school counselling service. Student Support Officers provide individual and targeted wellbeing support and whole of school wellbeing initiatives and programs that are evidence-based. They have a pivotal role in working collaboratively with external agencies and creating referral pathways for students and families to child and family support agencies.

This position is based out of the Southern Cross School of Distance Education site in East Ballina and has enrolments from years 7 to 12. Distance Education provides an online provision for single course and full-time enrolment. Please refer to the Department's Enrolment in distance education procedures

Our enrolment intake area for full-time high school enrolments extends from Ballina, north to the Tweed, across to the Northern Tablelands and Namoi districts, south to the Grafton and Clarence district and the local neighbouring areas of Lismore, Casino and Byron Bay. Students are shared enrolments between their home school and our distance education school. This allows students to maintain a connection with their local school.
