We are seeking to establish a pool of Student Support Officers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Joondalup Primary School (PS) strives to provide learning experiences that are authentic, diverse and enjoyable. We aim for all students to be respectful, responsible and safe learners who show resilience and confidence.
The school has a caring, professional and dedicated staff. They are highly skilled with some in the early stages of their careers whilst others have deep historical knowledge of the school and families. The range is a strength of the staffing group. Staff work together to ensure consistent practices in classrooms and that all students are well known, beyond their own classroom. Staff value the connections they have with each other and recognise that this helps them to be excellent educators regardless of their role.

The Role
The Student Support Officer would lead and coordinate targeted and individualised interventions within a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), ideally with a particular focus on Tier 3 complex behaviour support.
Suitable applicants will ideally work collaboratively with school leaders, teachers, families and external agencies to ensure students with complex behavioural, social and emotional needs receive evidence-based support that promotes engagement, inclusion and success. They would coordinate and support the implementation of Tier 3 interventions within the school’s MTSS framework, ensuring identified students receive individualised and responsive support.
A key aspect of the role involves assisting in the planning, implementation and evaluation of behaviour support plans, interventions and alternative programs that support student engagement, wellbeing and learning outcomes. They should provide guidance and support to staff with the implementation of evidence-based behaviour support practices, trauma-informed approaches and strategies to support students presenting with complex needs. This includes facilitating collaborative problem-solving processes and contributing to whole-school approaches that strengthen inclusive practice.
The role requires the development and maintenance of effective partnerships with students, families, and external agencies to coordinate wraparound supports. Suitable applicants will ideally participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences and case management review processes, providing guidance and recommendations to data informed intervention planning.
They would collect, analyse and interpret behavioural and wellbeing data to monitor intervention effectiveness and inform continuous improvement within the MTSS framework in line with the strategic direction of the school.
