Zest Cafe Clare is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef or Cook to join our dedicated team.
Located in the heart of the Clare Valley, around two hours from Adelaide, Zest Cafe Clare offers the chance to work in one of South Australia’s most beautiful regional locations. The region is known for its vineyards, fresh local produce, and strong sense of community, making it ideal for chefs who value quality ingredients and a balanced lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and plan creative, seasonal menus, including weekly specials, showcasing local produce
- Manage food and labour costs to support profitability
- Source and order high-quality ingredients, with a focus on local suppliers
- Prepare and cook dishes to a consistently high standard, with strong attention to portion control and presentation
- Maintain quality across all stages of food preparation and service
- Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth and efficient service
- Work closely with management and front-of-house staff to ensure strong teamwork
- Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards
- Train, supervise, and mentor kitchen staff, providing clear guidance and feedback
- Implement effective food storage and waste-reduction practices
- Assist with catering and special events when required
- Manage inventory, stock rotation, and record-keeping
- Resolve kitchen issues quickly to avoid service disruption
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 1 year of full-time experience as a Chef in a fast-paced commercial kitchen
- Strong culinary skills with a focus on quality, consistency, and presentation
- Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet service demands
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Certificate III and Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
- Availability to work weekends
- Willingness to relocate to Clare and commit to the local lifestyle

Pay: $77,000.00 – $82,000.00 per year
