Nice workplace but not paid enough
Store Assistant (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 25 September 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIts a vibrant store to work with. Nice customers, always busy fast pace environment. But never got paid enough, which is very sad!! If you’re a person new to retail, this job is good for creating strong resume.

Overworked and underpaid
Corporate store manager (Current Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 13 September 2023
If you're a manager you get screwed. There's no support for all the daily nonsense but they'll pretend there is but when it all hits the fan you're on your own. You better like being on call 24 hours a day and be ready to have no life because somebody pulled out of a shift last minute and you have to go do it yourself meanwhile you're on a salary and won't make a cent more than you would on a normal 38 hour work week. You'll work mostly alone and will have to do everything. Good luck going to the bathroom between customers. I hope you like having bites if food between serving because you don't get breaks. You do everything and you're alone the entire time and it all falls back on you.
Cons
Boring, repetitive, lonely, not good enough pay

Don't bother with this place !!
Console Operator (Current Employee) - Western Australia - 27 August 2023
I am a current employee in Western Australia. I would have said that I enjoyed working there as of the week just gone but not any more. Seemingly 7 Eleven have just sprung a new staff restructuring system just "out of the blue".... Now shifts aren't available in the afternoons any more. The company has adopted a new store management system , so the store manager will be looking after day shifts with cover in the morning, and a store supervisor will be covering afternoons. That leaves the rest of us that don't play buddies with management scrambling for the odd shift here and there on weekends or on overnights. A lot of people I work with are university students and depend on the afternoon and evening shifts as they go to uni during the day. They're screwed.... you're even more screwed if you don't play buddies with management so you won't get but the odd scrap from them here or there out of the kindness of their heart. That's even if you bust your balls providing great customer service on all shifts and doing your upmost to complete the endless list of tasks that need to be done. All that blood sweat and tears are for nothing. Thans for nothing 7eleven 😑
Pros
Nothing at all
Cons
Abuse by customers, cliquey management. Shortened hours

Great environment
Console operator (Current Employee) - Cairns North QLD - 22 August 2023
Great work environment, enthusiastic well trained team, good management. I learnt a lot. I don't really find much difficult about the job it's all pretty straight forward. The most enjoyable part of the job is the fact the team knows what they are doing we all work well together and it flows.
Pros
Free slurpies
Cons
Busy

Console Operator (Former Employee) - Queensland - 13 August 2023
Its okay, good pay for casual workers, highly recommend for people who need a flexible roster. Every store is different, so every team is different, the better you get a long with your team, the easier it is.
Pros
good pay
Cons
working solo most of the time

Isolated and lonely
Store Manager (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 9 August 2023
Busy all the time. No actual physical support. Head office were brilliant. Training great. On the job depends on where you are placed, and who is your mentor.

Wouldn’t go back , not enough inherent culture in the workplace! Overall work was steady but tedious and really depends who’s on your roster if you will enjoy

Mangers make or break the workplace
Console Operator (Former Employee) - Sunshine Coast QLD - 24 April 2023
Opportunity to work at other stores. But overall it is the type of manger you have that will make you want to work there otherwise there can be unrealistic task to be completed within your shift. Not many 0pportunity to further in the industry. Very bad penalties rates, no extra pay for afternoon or overnight shifts

Don't work here
Cashier (Former Employee) - Greenfields WA - 14 April 2023
Unless you want to be micromanaged by wanna be 20 year old managers that make you come in sick and fire you for it then apply. They post for workers almost once a week..... ;'D they have this whatsapp group chat and it's just terrible the way they go on feels like high school 🤷♂️🥳 I'm happy I left :))))
Pros
Leaving work

Stressful place to work at
Customer Service Assistant (Current Employee) - Western Australia - 24 March 2023
1) you are the only one on shift. Apart from a quick handover with the next person and to do your till, they want you out that door asap, so no chance of bonding with your co workers. If there is a problem, you have to ask your co workers who are off duty to help via WhatsApp, sort it yourself or log a job with 24/7 support. ) it is a lonely job , forget taking a proper toilet break or any actual breaks. I've gone a few hours with a full bladder because I was it. I'm sure others are the same. 3) the amount of jobs a worker is supposed to complete is stupid . Our store details your every minute which I have no problem with but I can successfully complete all on that list or serve customers, both can't be done successfully. 4)You are told then that you should move faster or perhaps it is not the right fit for you... Sometimes you are practically sprinting lol 4) our store is run very cheaply, it could do with a really good clean but no one has time to do so. Despite all this, I am enjoying myself, I've learnt a lot and the majority of customers have been okay.
Pros
None, not even a fuel voucher
Cons
Long hours, the amount of jobs that you have to complete is crazy.

Alright depending on location
Console Operator (Former Employee) - Rockingham WA - 21 March 2023
Alright place to work if in a good area. Customers can be really nasty sometimes. In store management is generally okay but the higher ups/office are completely incompetent

Fun, supportive workplace culture
Executive Assistant (Former Employee) - Head Office, Richmond - 20 February 2023
Good, supportive workplace culture. Reasonable bonuses. Not a lot of opportunity for advancement. You're encouraged to sample new products. Collaborative environment.
Pros
Good, supportive culture. Reasonable bonuses
Cons
Some management personnel need to move on. Salary increases are small

Progression within company if you desire, long stressful hours
Shift Supervisor (Current Employee) - Melbourne - 15 February 2023
Pros: 7-Eleven do well at promoting within their own company, it's very easy to get promoted with time and effort if that is what you are after. The pay is decent on a casual level, however when you are full time the pay can seem minimal for the amount of stress and hard work you put in, and taking annual and sick leave is always a mission. Cons: Long hours with no breaks and lots of standing and moving. Very regularly you work 8-hour shifts by yourself, so there are no rest or meal breaks allocated. Customers can be very rude and demanding so you have to be able to handle that. Work can be stressful depending on job level and how busy the store gets. Managers become easily stressed and mean at minor mistakes. Awful work-life balance. Very regularly get called by fellow employees whilst clocked off for questions and advice, especially if you're in a shift supervisor or higher role. You don't get paid for this.
Pros
easy promotions to management, okay pay for casual
Cons
always training new employees, poor work-life balance, low full time pay, difficult to book annual and sick leave, NO breaks

Awful place to work, high staff turnover
customer service (Former Employee) - Queensland - 5 February 2023
Very horrible experience working for this company, it was sink or swim! Manager had a bad hero complex and wasn't friendly at all. I tried to make it work for me by approaching manager but she was never a pleasant person to deal with. She made me feel dumb!
Pros
Nil
Cons
A long roadmap to follow with no help on shifts I worked, and constantly made feel useless because I couldn't complete the roadmap

Pros
