Sadly company does not exist anymore.

Sucked
Equipment Operator (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 27 June 2017
Small trenching company with very poor management. Bid jobs too low for actual overhead costs and let the blame fall on supervisors of the crew. Would not recommend

intruduction to construction
Equipment Operator/Labourer (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 31 January 2017
my Father owned the company so he tended to be rather hard on me to teach me the values of hard work and pride in my work. I slowly went from a labourer to an equipment operator

IT was a good place to work as long as you could keep up with the demands of the bosses. The company its self was very enjoyable to work for.

The managment is a joke
Tandem Operator (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 9 August 2014
This place is a complete joke. The actually working guys are all good but get treated like dirt by management. Everyone was always complaining about how they were treated or the fact that you could never get equipment repaired. It was so bad that if you need new tires you couldn't get them because they owed the tire place to much money. One of the drivers was fired because he was cleaning his windows and mirrors. A foreman had accused him of sitting at a dump site when he protested and said that the only time he had been at a dump site for more than a couple of minutes was to clean his windows and mirrors because they were covered in mud the response he got was "oh well to bad". I would never recommend them as a place to work for anyone.
Pros
Good field guys
Cons
Management

High turn over for drivers
driver (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 22 April 2014
Was great to start, working 6days/week, no on call. Company was paying Merit from first check but still had to wait for 300 hours before benefits kicked in. Pay was okay. Fire a lot of good drivers before their three months is up, so zero job stability. Everyone complains n moans, mechanics are slow to get stuff fixed on time. If you let the office staff know you know your legal rights when it comes to pay and such, you get accused of harassment. If you don't want to be looking for another driving job, don't go to A& A.

Great field staff
Office (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 25 February 2014
I worked in the office and felt very unappreciated by the owners and management - assisted with positions that were not in my position scope for 3 months working extra hours for no extra compensation. Worked with the company and my manager made excuse after excuse not to give me a review or a bump in pay.
Loved the field guys, they reminded me why I came to work everyday and it was to support them to make their jobs easier. Great bunch of guys....
Pros
free parking
Cons
unappreciated, low wage for construction, missing strong leaders

Satisfaction of doing the job properly.
Heavy Equipment Operator (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 27 June 2013
A&A Trenching is a very family oriented company with a good work environment. A typical day at A&A trenching would be fixing defaults. I learned how to work in every situation. The management needed improvement. Co-workers were friendly and easy to work with, providing a good atmosphere. The most difficult part of the job was fixing jobs that should have been done to perfection. The most enjoyable part of the job was the satisfaction of knowing I did the job right.
Pros
Friendly Atmosphere
Cons
Poor organisation

No Complaints!
Heavy Equipment Operator (excavator) (Former Employee) - Edmonton, Alberta - 30 May 2013
Definitely one of the better companies to work for. First off, it's construction, so by the very nature of the work, one can expect a certain amount of chaos. Add to that the fact you're working on multiple sites each day, so there's going to be more stress coming from a variety of sources. That being said, I have nothing but good things to say about A&A. Their field managers are knowledgeable and articulate enough to help you work through any issue, yet never arrogant. The equipment is good, it's year-round work and family comes first. Meaning if you have a family matter to deal with, you deal with that and once it's taken care of, you still have a job. Remember, it's fast paced, so if you're a "Type B" personality, you're better off staying home. I still go in from time to time to help out and it's always a positive experience.
Pros
"Family First" philosophy. Great field supervisors.
Cons
It's still construction.
