I worked for APM for a number of years as a DES and ESS consultant ,when there is a good team, it is supportive and brilliant. The KPIs aren't ridiculously high and are somewhat achievable. The team I was in was a high performing team that had good outcomes and while there was some turn over the core of the team was strong. Some of the role is incredibly rewarding however if you are an overly sympathetic person you will fail, there are a lot of people who really are capable of working but just dont want to. That being said there are a lot of people who aren't job ready. APM gives you a chance to prioritise job ready clients and focus on supports for those who have more complex issues. The place is a little micro managed the upper management tend to just leave you alone, if you are doing your job. The targets are reasonable and the case load is a manageable. If you are a soft person with a bleeding heart this job is not for you. If you are an arrogant snob who likes to treat people like dirt, also not for you. If you want to help people and have a bit of backbone (and can see when someone is pulling your leg) this is a great role. It's a challenge and the only reasons I left was I needed a better work life balance and wanted a bit more money.
Can be rewarding, decent pay, of you are good, the bonuses are awwome.
No work life balance, taking people to job trials on a Saturday night, 6am interviews, distress calls at random times.
Tedious place to work, no professional development at all. Managers usually have no qualifications and get no training in how to properly manage staff. Couldn't care less about quite reasonable concerns and complaints from staff and their treatment
Staff churn and burn
At APM you are surrounded by like-minded individuals that are all working together to enable better lives. The opportunity for individual growth is great and the team are extremely supportive!
Worked at APM as a DES Consultant for 12 months. Immediate management were great, but higher management, in particular- Regional & State management were utterly out of touch with reality. No regard for employee mental health & safety & a no-excuses attitude to barriers. Treated staff as numbers and during COVID related shut-downs upped the pressure and expectations as opposed to increasing support. Salary is fine but will withhold bonuses as a punishment for staff resignations.

I've been working for APM now for 6 months and it is a tough job, and some days can be hard - but the work is very satisfying. I've helped some people out of really tough situations in life and now they are working, earning a living for themselves and living independently. There's a lot of sales/marketing so it helps if you are someone who is not shy and enjoys the chase - you have to find employment for people and that means making approaches to businesses/employers and 'selling' your candidate to them.

Staff have set KPI’s for placing job seekers who are claiming Centrelink payments. Out of a client base, a large number of them, do not wish to work. When the only job security you have is hitting your KPI’s, that alone is stressful enough. Then you have the management who put even more stress on you to place those job seekers because they themselves have KPI’s. That’s a whole lot of stress!
Stress. Poor management from the ground up.
As a client the DES is incompetent, does not listen to clients, refuses to follow contractual agreements, employs incompeyent former Centrelink Staff, persons with sever memtal health issues as a Business Manager and a State Manager who not even her own staff who answer her phone know who she is. Staff are willfully deceptive to Services Australian by falsely failing to follow contractual obligations. A Royal Commission is required into all providets Australia
Dishonesty is rewarded
Worst experience of my working life (20 years in the industry). Management are arrogant, dismissive and believe they are part of an elite cult. You will be treated like a number and you will have unrealistic targets. I hope this organisation loses its next tender to deliver Employment Services. You have been warned - Don't go there. (even if your desperate)
Very poor work environment with management that use and abuse power and create undue stress for their employers.they also create an unsafe work environment endangering the safety of staff and not delivering on promises to staff about career progression.

Extremely high turnover of staff. This is considered acceptable. Bullying culture. Untrained staff. Management who do not care. The Government should look into this blatant squandering of tax payer monies. I feel for JobActive seekers, who are forced to deal with them.
Stressful environment - Made to harass clients and employers to achieve Placements and claims Management unfair - Does nothing but fire away orders and works remotely so bare minimal contact No team culture Bonuses not paid - Ignored emails. Bullying Near to non training. Favouritism by management
Avoid this employer like the plague, APM is the worst place i have ever worked no real business ethics, don't really care about the real aim or purpose they are trusted with all they care about is the KPIs any one with morals would give this employer a wide birth
I enjoyed my social work placement at APM . I learnt a lot about the disability sector and the employees there were very helpful . I would conduct research on disability services available which was used to help individuals who would come in for their NDIS plans .
Poor training little to non, expected to meet KPI when not shown how, upper management was poor unjust and unfair while completing KPI, harrasment and just poor overall work life coming home not knowing if you have a job the next day. Also management explaining to you.on the first day that everyone is replaceable
Poor lose management. Breeches of privacy not handled in accordance with government legislation. Favouritism with staff from regional/ branch manager allowed staff member to do what ever she wanted including bullying towards other staff members. Complaints from clients about said staff member not handled appropriately, again management allowed her to get away with everything.
I was under the impression that I could actually support clients with disabilities in gaining employment. This takes time and many clients are not job ready and need support and patience, and help to get to the point where they are job ready. Unfortunately while the DES Employment Consultants understand this, the Management Staff are not interested and are more concerned with KPI’s and Star Ratings. Staff are treated with no respect and their opinions are not taken into consideration which is a shame because some of the staff are amazing and you’ll lose them.
I learned that the bigger a company is, the less functional it is and the worse communication between people and departments becomes, even in the same location. Lower management was incompetent and changed frequently. Workplace culture was generally despondent and there was a very high staff turnover rate. The hardest part of the job was the lack of guidance and the presence of conflicting information. The most enjoyable part of the job was the great work life balance and laid back attitudes.
No support. You get spoken to like absolute dirt. Management look down on you. Biggest staff then over ever. I started in August last year and nearly everyone had resigned so they hired new people and I quit in July this year and now it’s happening again. They can’t keep staff. Maybe that’s something to think about.
